When I originally sat down to write this, I’d planned to tell you about six books that have impacted my life. Turns out, I couldn’t narrow the list down. Instead, here are my favorite, potent and powerful books that are all worthy of a mention and that have impacted my life in some way. Of course, there are many more epic books out there, but these are some that have deeply resonated with me.

I love reading, and believe that in order to grow we must continue to obtain knowledge. Despite what some people think, you don’t just finish school, close your textbooks, and be ‘done’ with learning. Nuh-uh — that’s when you’re just beginning, baby! But rather than blindly reading the books that a teacher tells you to, now you get to take your learning into your own hands. Which is WAY more gratifying. So if you want to experience epic growth and expansion, make the decision to become a student for life, seek out knowledge, and stretch your mind… It’s the only way you will transform and evolve.

Learning doesn’t end after school, I am a student for life and hungry for knowledge.

Now before we dive in, it goes without saying that both my books Mastering Your Mean Girl and Open Wide have been the most impactful books I have ever created and read. Both have changed my life in so many ways and I know they will do the same for you too.

But don’t take my word for it…

“Mastering Your Mean Girl jumped off a shelf at me just when I needed it most. It’s the most authentic, honest and truly soul-baring book. It resonated with me in a way that nothing else has – especially when I’d been searching for a map for self-love, and out of my anxiety and insecurities. After reading your book, I realized all my decisions up to that point in my life had been ‘fear town’ decisions and your book helped me articulate that.” Raena Manson

“Thank you for writing the best book I’ve ever read. It’s changed my outlook on life.” Shantel McRae

“I am not a reader at all, probably have read only 4-5 books in my entire life. I finished Mastering Your Mean Girl in about 5 days. Then I also purchased your 10-week activation program which I am currently doing with the meditations. I just want to say thank you so much. I have started to choose love over fear in everything I do and in just a month, I feel 100 times more positive and calm. I love my magical morning routine and the fact I feel more confident in my own body.” Catherine Boshell

“Melissa personifies love, hope, healing, and light. She is whip-smart, genuine, and soul-baring, and that is exactly what shines through when you crack open (wide…see what I did there?) either of her incredible books.” Toni Isles

“Open Wide is life-changing! I’ve been following Melissa for a while and listening to her podcast – I couldn’t wait for this book to come out. This book is so relatable and offers really easy steps in each chapter. I felt myself growing throughout the whole book and shedding what was no longer needed. If you need some self-love and kick-ass advice – read Open Wide.” Patricia Kopec

“Open Wide is amazing. Melissa has such wonderful insight. Mastering Your Mean Girl unlocked my mind and Open Wide unlocked my heart! Highly recommend!” Katherine Trinkle

Once you have read Mastering Your Mean Girl and Open Wide sink your teeth into these…

Epic Books For More Health, Vitality & Happiness

Medical Medium by Anthony Williams

All of his books are life-changing and must-reads but maybe start with this one first.

The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates

I used to experience bloating, candida, adult acne, and eczema. It wasn’t until I read this book and adopted The Body Ecology principles into my life that all my health concerns dramatically improved. There are so many ideas and insights in this wellness classic which have changed my life —  you won’t regret reading it. I’ve also had Donna on my podcast twice which you can check out here and here.

Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth

In all my work I’ve been repeating one essential truth for years: the way we eat is a direct reflection of every other area of our lives. This is the message that Geneen Roth shares in Women, Food and God. This book perfectly describes how to heal your relationship with food and how to end your tortuous relationship with your body. I’ve also had Geneen on my podcast which you can check out here.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay

Lying in the hospital back in 2010, this was the first self-help book I ever picked up. It planted the seed of change deep within me and is a great read for anyone starting out on their journey. It’s packed full of helpful affirmations and techniques like mirror work that will really support you on your spiritual path.

Quite possibly the best holistic health book for everyone! I would honestly buy as many copies as you can and gift it to anyone you care about. Not only do you learn what creates disease in the body, but he gives you the exact steps to reserve it and also all the keys for how to live a long, happy and healthy life. It’s life-changing and imperative reading. Stephen has been on my podcast here, here, here and here. I’m a bit obsessed with him.

The Healing Power of Essential Oils by Dr Eric Zielinski

We are getting sicker and sicker so it’s safe to say we really need to start taking our health into our own hands and this book teaches you how to do that. It also gives you so many recipes on how to create a toxic-free home for you and your family. Dr Eric Z has been on my podcast here which you must check out.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondō

I don’t have an issue with being clean and tidy, I am one of the cleanest, tidy and organized people I know but there are two things I took away from this book. The first one is that everything in your home, office, and life should bring you joy. So next time you are decluttering you hold the item whether it’s a book, a dress or a pack of cards and you ask yourself, ‘does this bring me joy?’ You can only answer yes or no and if the answer is no you let it go and if the answer is yes you keep it. This was super powerful because when we have a cluttered space we have a cluttered mind. When I did this there were a few things I was holding onto ‘just because’, but this simple yet powerful question has radically changed the way I look at everything in my home. The second thing I loved was that she believes everything has a home. Again this wasn’t really an issue for me but when Nick or Leo ever leave something out I remind him that everything has a home and they will put it away in its home. Two simple things that have created so much space and peace in my mind.

Beautiful You by Nat Kringoudis

A book every female needs to read and to be honest the younger you read this the better. I bought this for my friends’ 10-year-old daughter and she loved it. Check out my podcast with Nat here.

Grow a New Body by Alberto Villoldo

This book offers an accessible guide to an ancient practice for healing and transformation. Using the principles and practices in this book, you can feel better in a few days, begin to clear your mind and heal your brain in a week, and in six weeks be on your way to growing a new body–one that heals rapidly, retains its youthful vitality, and keeps you connected to Spirit, to the earth, and to a renewed sense of purpose in your life. Check out my podcast with Alberto here.

Epic Books For Wealth & Abundance In Your Life

The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss

When I first started my business, I thought I had to sit in front of my computer all day and night or I wouldn’t be successful. This book made me realize that it’s not about working harder, it’s about working smarter. The 4-Hour Workweek gives you all the tools you need to set up and create the freedom-based business you desire.

Turning Pro by Steven Pressfield

This book talks about the concept of being an amateur versus being a ‘pro’. Reading it was quite a pivotal moment for me. It helped me see all the stinky, amateur habits I was relying on, and that I needed to ‘turn pro’ in many areas of my life — not just within my business. This is a quick and easy read that you won’t be able to put down.

Daring Greatly by Brené Brown

This powerful book gave me permission to be seen. It gave me the green light to be vulnerable and share my story with the world. Beautifully written and hilarious, this book is a must-read for anyone wanting to be the most authentic version of themselves.

The Science of Getting Rich, by Wallace Wattles

Before you screw up your nose at the title, I want to preface this by saying this is the best spiritual take on abundance I have ever read. This book is my bible and I believe everyone needs to read it. He talks about deep gratitude, visualization, feelings, and why getting rich is the best thing you can do for the ‘poor’.

Think And Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill

Juicy insights from more than 500 self-made millionaires who all built their empires from scratch? Yes, please! Let’s just say, there’s a reason this book is a self-help classic. Get it, read it, thank me later.

The Barefoot Investor and The Barefoot Investor For Families by Scott Pape

Inspiring, funny and possibly the easiest to digest finance book I have ever read. If you are looking for a light-hearted money guide to financial freedom for you and your family these two books are for you.

This book is a mega inspiration if you want to unlock your full potential and live your best life. Not only incredibly hilarious but it’s packed with loads of inspiration and action steps to really help you implement your revelations. Essential reading for all! Peta has been on my podcast here and here and you don’t want to miss out on these.

I have read this book twice and both times were just before I started writing my books Mastering Your Mean Girl and Open Wide. Truth be told I was setting in fear, sipping cocktails with my Mean Girl and then I read this book which put a rocket up my tush to get writing. The same thing happened with Open Wide, I was sitting on it, hanging out with my Mean Girl, resisting writing Open Wide, then I re-read The War Of Art and BAMB my fingers were type, type, typing away. This book will put a rocket up your tush. So if you’re sitting on a product or dream biz you want to launch READ THIS TODAY!

Epic Books For More Love In Your Life

Dear Lover by David Deida

I believe this book is one of the reasons why I am with my husband today. I read it before we got together and something really shifted within me. This book showed me what is truly possible within a conscious union. It opened my eyes to the divine beauty that can unfold when two people come together, get out of the way, and choose love.

Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch

Another massive game-changer for me, and one of the best books I have ever read. It answered so many questions I had about religion and spirituality. A must-read for everyone! Don’t miss my podcast episode with Neale here

Dying To Be Me by Anita Moorjani

One of the most inspiring books I have ever read. Anita takes you through the journey of her life — before, during, and after cancer. She intimately shares her moving near-death experience that changed everything for her. She is an incredible woman and is sure to inspire the heck out of you. Make sure you listen to my podcast episode with her too. It’s awesome!

Warrior Pose by Bhava Ram

Reading Bhava’s story touched me deeply. I cried many times — not because Bhava is a dear friend,  but because his story is so deeply touching and inspiring. From a high-profile job as a journalist to a broken back and terminal cancer, this man sure has had an incredible life and a compelling story to match. Don’t miss my podcast episode I did with him here.

The Gifts Of Imperfections by Brené Brown

Another supreme book from Brené Brown. I couldn’t put it down —  her wit, wisdom, and humor make you want to devour every word in one sitting. This book made me see that I was striving for perfectionism when ‘perfect’ doesn’t even exist. A truly powerful read.

Slow Sex by Nicole Daedone

If you are a regular around here, you will have heard of meditation… but have you heard of Orgasmic Meditation?! Orgasmic Meditation is a loving 15-minute practice you do with a partner that will help every woman become orgasmic. Nicole believes that most women do not have satisfying sex lives and she wants to teach you how that can all change. When done with the right partner, this practice will open your heart, deepen your connection with yourself and your partner, and help you achieve authentic climax. Sign me up, baby!

The 5 Love Languages by  Gary Chapman

Falling in love is easy. But staying in love? That’s a different story. This book will change the way you look at all your relationships. It will also help you keep your relationships fresh and growing amid the demands and conflicts of everyday life.

The Heart of Love by Dr John F. Demartini

Are you looking for your soul mate? Do you want to reignite the spark in a long time relationship? Are you seeking to safeguard your marriage from infidelity? And are you committed to creating more authentic friendships, family connections, and business relationships? If any of those ring a bell in your heart, then this book is for you. This book helps you understand what really drives human behavior in romance, business, and families. It assures you that you can have the kind of relationships you truly desire, whether they’re lasting or brief, intensely intimate or just for fun. Ultimately, this book aims to inspire you to fulfill the true purpose of your relationships: to wake you up to your own wholeness, the divine magnificence present in every human soul. It invites you into the heart of love, which transforms any relationship into one of gratitude and true fulfillment. Do not miss my podcast episode with John here. It’s mind-blowing!

No matter how busy you are, find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance – Confucius

Emmanuel’s Book by Pat Rodegast

Emmanuel speaks to us via Pat Rodegast (the author), making this a cosmically mind-altering book you will want to return back to time and time again. It’s full of so many nuggets of wisdom. As Emmanuel says: “The gifts I wish to give you are my deepest love, the safety of truth,  the wisdom of the universe and the reality of God… The issue of whether there is a Greater Reality or not, for me at least, has been settled. I  know that there is. So I will speak to you from the knowing that I possess.” Get ready to have your mind blown.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

A quick and easy read, The Four Agreements reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. It also offers a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love.

The Secret of the Shadow by Debbie Ford

If you love Mastering Your Mean Girl, you will LOVE this book. Debbie calls her ‘Mean Girl’ the Shadow and in this book, she shows you how the Shadow side holds the key to our happiness. She shows how understanding our own shadow side can lead us to lives of tremendous fulfillment and peace. Full of case studies and exercises, this book complements her first book on shadow work, which has sold almost half a million copies.

Buddhism Plain and Simple by Steve Hagen

I live a lot of the Buddhist principles and this book really helped me implement them into my life. I’ve read a lot of books on Buddhism and to be honest I have found many of them hard to digest but not this one. It’s epic!

Radical Honesty by Brad Blanton

After reading this book radical honesty is now something I aim to practice not only with others but especially myself. We are constantly telling lies (whether big or little white lies) to ourselves and others and that’s inauthentic. Practicing radical honesty is my daily intention thanks to his epic book.

The Way of the Superior Man by David Deida

If you want to understand men better this book is a must-read!

Epic Books For Motherhood & Conscious Parenting

Womb Wisdom by Padma Aon Prakasha

As women, we can store a lot of emotions in our bodies, deep in our cells and especially in our womb. This book teaches you how to let go of any lineage stored emotions so that you can step into your full feminine power. It’s an epic book to read before you have children so do it now!

Every person whether you want to be a parent or not needs to read this book. It will radically change the way you look at parenting and your children. This book is epic to read before you even consider having children. So get onto it now! And make sure you listen to my episode with her here

Buddhism for Mothers by Sarah Napthali

Parenthood can be a time of great inner turmoil for a woman, yet most parenting books invariably focus on nurturing children rather than the mothers who may be struggling to raise them. This book is different; simply put, it’s a book for mothers using Buddhist practices and offering you ways of coping with the day-to-day challenges of motherhood.

The Mama Natural by Genevieve Howland

This book is the modern (and yet ancient) approach to pregnancy and childbirth. It recognizes that pregnancy and birth are normal and that having a baby is a wondrous biological process and rite of passage, not a medical condition. It draws upon the latest research showing how beneficial and life-changing natural birth is for both babies and mums. Full of weekly advice and tips for a healthy pregnancy it details vital nutrition to take, natural remedies for common and troublesome symptoms, as well as the appropriate (and inappropriate) use of interventions. If you read one baby book this is it! You can also check out my podcast I did with Genevieve here.

I Wish Someone Had Told Me by Jennifer Hacker Pearson PhD

This book is hilarious and totally needs to be read before you have kids.

The 5 Love Languages of Children by Gary Chapman

Understanding your children’s love language will help you take your relationship deeper and bond on a more soulful level. After reading this my relationship with Leo shifted into a much deeper and happier space.

Mothering from Your Center by Tami Lynn Kent

This book will teach you how to access the root of feminine energy and power to heal from pregnancy and birth and discover joy within yourself and your family.

Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin

Every expectant mother needs to read this book. It’s filled with so much inspiration and many stories of others who have gone before us.

The First Forty Days by Heng Ou

As modern mothers are pushed to prematurely “bounce back” after delivering their babies and are often left alone to face the physical and emotional challenges of this new stage of their lives, the first forty days provide a lifeline—a source of connection, nourishment, and guidance.

Birth Without Fear by January Harshe

An inclusive, non-judgmental, and empowering guide to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum life that puts mothers first, offering straightforward guidance on all the options and issues that matter most to them (and their partners) when preparing for a baby.

  1. Lisa says:

Great choices – I’ve read many of these myself! And I actually chatted with Donna Gates last week at David Wolfe’s Women’s Wellness Conference in CA. And of course who doesn’t love Brene Brown?! But you have a few on your list I haven’t read. Looks like I have some Kindle purchases later today! 😉

  2. Andrea Brown says:

WOW! This is almost exactly my list! LOVE all of these books – GREAT reads and definitely life-changing! 🙂

Actually listening to an audio version of “You Can Heal Your Life” as I read this. Synchronicity at its finest! <3

  3. Kirstin says:

Many of these were really game changers for me as well- and you’ve got a number of books on here that I’ve heard good things about but haven’t gotten around to yet- better add them to my list :).

  4. Lauren says:

So many good ones – especially Brene Brown + Geneen Roth! For health, I’d also add Intuitive Eating – life-changing for me back in college.

    • Elizab says:

Louise Hays book loved by my 23 year old daughter was apparently my mothers bible in the 70’s . She’s now 80 ….
Now I’m eager to see what I’ve missed out on .

  5. Lauren E says:

Thank you so much for this post and the book recommendations. After being in a book rut, I’ve been looking for something with a bit more substance and spirituality and these sound just the ticket! For me, A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle really opened my eyes to the concept of my ‘pain body’ and how I was feeding it by over analysing past actions, situations and relationships. Since I’ve been able to recognise what fuels it by cutting back on those emotional habits we all have. I will most definitely be working my way through this list this summer!

  6. Thanks for this post, so many more books to add to my list. I’d add ‘The Happiness Project’ by Gretchen Rubin. It is a super easy read and very inspiring with actionable steps to amplify happiness in our everyday lives.

  7. Fay says:

Awesome list, Melissa! Can’t wait to read the ones by Brene Brown!

  8. Never underestimate the power of a book. What a great list. Some of the books I have read before, but the majority are ones I am adding to my reading list asap.

  9. Kat says:

Thank you for sharing, many I have read and loved, some already on my list to read and some to add to my list – fantastic. The one book missing for me would have to be ‘Power of Now’ Eckhart Tolle, this book was the start of my awakening, a game changer for my presence.

  10. Without a doubt my favourite game-changing book was A return To Love by Marianne Williamson. I couldn’t put it down and I read parts of it pretty much every day. I carry a dogeared copy with me wherever I go. Melissa, your list is heaven on a stick. Some absolute beauties in there!

  11. Candice says:

Thanks so much for sharing – I have added all of these to my Pinterest reading list! Might even recommend some for my bookclub. Either way – can’t wait to dive in

  12. Sonia says:

The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer was handed to me by a goddess in Tulum during my spiritual awakening. The poem at the start is beyond beautiful and inspired the book, I would get chills every time I read it and can still recite lines from memory. It was one of those books that had the uncanny trait where each chapter corresponded to exactly what I was going through and learning, at whatever time I happened to pick up the book and start reading again. Thank you for your list, I can’t wait to read some of these x

  13. Anita M says:

Hi Melissa! Thank you for sharing your list of life-changing books with us all. I am so looking forward to many happy hours of reading:) Do you know what I have also found? When someone else suggests or gives me a book to read, it usually takes me where I may not have gone myself……and this is a delight! Thank you dear Melissa. I always love your posts and blog. Thanks for being you. xxx

  14. Rebecca Cornwell says:

I agree with Lauren – Eckhardt Tolle’s ‘A new earth’ is amazing – and I am also reading Donna Gates’ ‘Body Ecology diet’ book. I already know (suffering from a yeast overgrowth in my small intestine) that this is going to be a life changer for me! Thanks so much for sharing this reading list with us Melissa – can’t wait to purchase some of these! xxx

  15. Anne says:

I love receiving your emails. I have not read or heard of any of these books. I think I have a long way to go to find myself. This is the first time I have commented. Thanks again.

  16. Eliza says:

Thank you for this list Melissa! I can’t wait to start reading a few of them 🙂 I am currently reading “The Happiness Project”and really enjoying it.Have you read this one?

  17. Natalia says:

    Thank you Melissa!
Always in the hunt for new inspiring books to read. “You can heal your life” has been my bible! My Mother introduced this book to me when I was about 14 years old. I carry it with me everywhere I go. It planted a seed in my mind and my journey of self love started at that moment. Another few books are: “The Celestine prophecy” and “The Power of Now”. Amazing reads!
    Thank you for sharing.
    Love and light xx

  18. Anne says:

Thank you so much for sharing. I haven’t read many of those books but many of them appealed to me.

  19. Kylie says:

Thank you Melissa for sharing! I am currently reading ‘Women, Food and God’ and am really loving it. ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ and ‘The Power of No’ are fantastic go to references for me. I also love ‘Anatomy of the Spirit’ by Caroline Myss. ‘The 5 Seasons: Tap into Nature’s Secrets for Health, Happiness and Harmony is another book that sits on my bedside table and is for living life in harmony with the seasons eg. starting new projects in spring. Looking forward to reading the rest of the books you have listed!

    Kylie xx

  20. Rachel says:

The four agreements from don Miguel Ruiz has absolutely changed my life and my perspective on so many aspects of life. Incredible book that I would recommend for absolutely anybody.

  21. Beth says:

I am excited to start some of these, thank you Melissa for the recommendations! A game changer for me was “too soon old, too late smart” by Gordon livingstone. Have you read this one Melissa? Such a little gem! Thank you again.

  22. carmen says:

As a newbie to this, where does one start? I know something within me needs to change and I know I haven’t reached my full potential. Everything is so overwhelming and getting started is the hardest thing for me, yet it may very well be the best thing I’ve do ne for me and my daughter. Cheers Carmen x

    • Melissa Ambrosini says:

I can totally relate Carmen. Start with You Can Heal Your Life, it was a massive game changer for me.

Well done for starting this journey with your daughter. It will be the most rewarding thing you ever do.

      xx

      • Carmen says:

Thankyou for your kind words Melissa. Sometimes all it takes to get started is for someone to have a little faith in you. I was in a very dark (and scary) place just recently and if it wasn’t for two very thoughtful friends, I may not be here typing to you. But it has made me reassess and reflect on my life and aspire to be a person my beautiful daughter can be proud of.

      • Anita Mawji says:

Hey Carmen, those are the angels who sweep in to fix your wings when they are torn. I’ve been down that road unfortunately 3 times and fortunately each time someone has been there for me. I have witnessed what is known as the Dark Night Of The Soul, yes it sounds scary and it feels worse. I have tremendous gratitude for honest people who like Melissa radiate their light and bring light to someone else, somewhere else where it’s needed.

  23. Tash says:

Of all the things you have posted, I never thought that a post about book recommendations would be such an eye-opener for me. I am slightly out of shape but not at all overweight, and I certainly never considered myself to have any sort of eating problem but as soon as I clicked on the Women, Food and God link I realised that I actually have huge food issues. I eat on my own over 95% of the time because I hate eating with other people. When I do have to eat with other people (at dinner, at a wedding etc.) I eat really, really fast so I can relax and chat even though at this point people are still eating themselves. I had never really realised this about myself before this post. I will definitely be looking into buying that book.
One other thing, I noticed that you don’t drink alcohol. If it is not too personal, would you write a post about that one day? How / why you gave up and how you deal with social situations. Do you only surround yourself with non drinkers? How long have you been alcohol free? Thank you for sharing all of your wisdom.

    • Melissa Ambrosini says:

      Hi sweetie,

I actually wrote a massive post about it on my old site but didn’t bring it over to this one as I have added it in my book Mastering Your Mean Girl (which is out next year). I share everything in the book, but I can answer a few of your questions here also sweetie.

How / why you gave up?
I gave up because I needed to heal my body. I know alcohol is not good for you and I wasn’t well so I quit to get better.

How you deal with social situations?
When I first quit people liked to give their opinion (they always do), but now no one cares and social situations are fine. All my friends know I don’t drink so they never say anything any more.

Do you only surround yourself with non drinkers?
Nope! Loads of my friends still drink and after 5 years they accept my decision.

How long have you been alcohol free?
      About 5 years sweetie.

Does that help honey? Happy to answer any other questions you might have about it.

      xx

  24. Tash says:

Thanks so much! Definitely food for thought…
Can’t wait for your new book next year 🙂

  25. Alisha says:

    Hi Mel 🙂

How do you become a member in your tribe tab?

    xxx

  26. lilY says:

Hi Melissa, I am wondering what blender/food processor you use for everything (especially your bliss balls), I am currently looking to invest in one. X

  27. Lisa says:

Hello, You always dress beautifully, what brands do you like to shop at?

    • Melissa Ambrosini says:

      Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for your kind words. If you follow me on Instagram I always write the labels I am wearing. I love Sass and Bide, One Teaspoon, Bassike are some of my fav’s.

      I hope that helps sweetie.

      xx

  28. Hey Mel,

Loving your list. I agree with many you have recommended and now I also have a few new ones to put on the list.

A few other books that I would recommend are Mind Over Medicine by Lissa Rankin, Defy Gravity by Caroline Myss, Many Lives Many Masters by Brian Weiss, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr Joe Dispenza and the Happiness Trap by Russ Harris. As many of the other commenters have said Eckhart Tole’s The Power of Now is also a must read.

  29. Chelsea says:

I love so many of these books!! The 4-hour work week and Turning Pro are both great!! I will have to add the rest to my to-read list! I love find new recommendations. 🙂 Thx!

    xoxo,
    Chelsea

  30. Love this! We’ve read a few… adding the rest to our list! xxx Thank you.

  31. Barry says:

Second to Conversation with God for me is Journey of Souls by Michael Newton. It describes how we chose our life setting and parents for the purpose of our own evolution. Amazing book on what we are doing here in the first place

Hi Melissa. Thanks for sharing those! Can’t wait to start churning away at them one at a time. “The monk who sold his Ferrari” by Robin Sharma is fantastic. I couldn’t put it down. Some really easy to follow principles to start living a more enlightened and peaceful life. Lots of love. Xxx

    • Melissa says:

I LOVED that book Tanja. It was one of the first spiritual books I ever picked up.

I can’t wait to add my book to this list soon 😉 You’re going to LOVE it!

      xx

  35. I just started a website about life-changing books so this list was inspiring! Also good for me to look at some lists written by women since a lot of content online is otherwise male-centered. I borrowed You Can Heal Your Life from my mother a couple of weeks ago, looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the tips // J

    • Melissa says:

You’re welcome John, let me know what you think of You Can Heal Your Life. I loved it!

Also please add any recommendations you think we would love.

Had to google this to locate it!! You need a search function of topic list of your posts 🙂

I have one of these on my shelf! My cousin bought it for me years and years ago when my mum passed away and have never read it!!! Ok my list.

Am currently reading Dear Lover but finding it really hard to get into….

  37. […] is so hard! I actually wrote a post recently about 15 books that have changed my life because I couldn’t pick just one. Can I leave you with […]

  38. Renee says:

You can heal your life was the first self help book I picked up after going through chemo & radiation for Hodgkins Lymphoma. It changed my life. It changed my thought process on illness, and it changed how I nursed all the families of the sick kids I care for. It opened a door of getting deeper and deeper, to myself… Sometimes that got scary and I would pull back a little. Eventually I met and was a Guinea pig for Dr Libby Weaver in Nz and the book kept coming back to me through my nutrition overhaul. ‘Accidentally overweight’ has become a new staple and Libby my mentor, I’m so thrilled to be a nutritionist now as well as nurse helping children flourish. Thanks for a reminder of lots of books I love and a whole lot of new ones for me to read, always digging deeper! Xxx

  39. Larissa says:

Thanks for sharing! I can’t stop reading too. I will have to get your book 🙂

    I love:
A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.
It absolutely changed my life and was a catalyst for my awakening. Everything he says makes so much sense and whenever I’m triggered or I have a moment I always think, what has Eckhart taught me?

Light is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell.
I love her brand and her story really resonates with me. It has really practical advice and exercises to help you follow what lights you up. It’s so easy to read, I couldn’t put it down. Some magical things happened as I was reading this book 🙂

    Journey of Souls
This book blew my mind and opened me up completely.

I’m reading Women Who Run With Wolves and Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul by Deepak Chopra at the moment and am loving them too!
    Xx

  40. Jess says:

So many wise books on this list!
I am currently devouring “Breaking The Habit Of being yourself” by Dr Joe Dispenza. I cannot recommend it highly enough! It’s such an empowering book and being a science nerd, I love how it speaks to me about being able to change my life through Physics and Psychology and meditation. For anyone wanting to know how to manifest greatness in their life, buy this book!

  41. Janice says:

I’ve not read many of those books but I recently decided to kick my wellness path up a notch after watching the video you and your husband made. I bought the Glow Kitchen when it was released and enjoyed the recipes but that was about it. Now, the Glow Kitchen has revolutionised my health this past three months. I read it almost every day and I just adore it. I’ve fallen in love with bone broth, enjoy raw sauerkraut with my meals and go to every kind of local market I can. I feel so much happier, vibrant and I honestly feel like I can take on the world when I wake up. So thank you Melissa!! I can’t express how grateful I am for you, your energy and knowledge. I’m so excited for what lies ahead for me because I feel like 2017 is going to be my best year yet.

    PS – you’re a fab cook

Just revisited this list. There are so many gems here! Hoping to check out some new ones. I would also add Gabrielle Bernstein’s May Cause Miracles and The Universe Has Your Back. And…You are a Badass and You are a Badass at Making Money. Jen Sincero is humorous and both books are such fabulous reads.

OMG where do you find time to read so much!? You should share your tips on time management!
They are all amazing books and I love specially Brené Brown, Daring Greatly is full of aha moments for me!
There is one book though that I thought was going to be in your list… “the power of now” by Eckhart Tolle. I’ve heard you mention it several times…In my opinion one of the best spiritual books out there.

Fabulous suggestions! Thanks so much, love, for sharing them with us. I’m so curious, what fiction books would you recommend? Those sublime books for when we need a break from expanding our minds and conquering our inner demons? The ones that charm us and take us away to another world?

  47. Rachel says:

    Hi Melissa
I just wanted to say thank you you have made me realise that it’s not just me that deals with an inner critic or mean girl on a daily basis. I started listening to your podcasts and was so incredibly inspired that I went out and bought mastering your mean girl and I literally can’t put it down it really struck a chord with me cos I’m really struggling with my mean girl and dealing with depression and anxiety but maybe it’s possible that the mean girl can be banished maybe it’s not but thanks for making sense and letting me know I’m not in this alone
    Thanks so much

  51. Kym Piez says:

Well, I just loved both your books and have read many of these, but have madly entered a whole bunch more on my GoodReads App. Can’t wait to read some more wisdom – we can never get enough! Like you, I could never choose just six life changing books – but definitely at the top of my list is Playing Big by Tara Mohr, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, Thrive by Arianna Huffington, Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown. Love, love, love Brene Brown! The cutest books are anything by Kate James. So thoughtful and something to ponder as I sleep. Hope you do another post like this! Can’t read enough.

    • Hey Kym, thank you so much for your recommendations, I LOVE Brene Brown, Stephan Covey, and Elizabeth Gilbert also. I will keep adding to this post when I discover another so come back and check it out regularly and please shares yours with me too. All my love. xx

One book I would love to know if you have read is The Choice by Edith Eger. My husband and I both read this for the first time recently and he has since bought copies for many of our friends and family. Highly recommend if you haven’t read it and would love to know your thoughts if you have. Thank you for sharing your favorite books…I have read quite a few based on your recommendation:)
