Does your brain sometimes feel like an overstuffed filing cabinet?!

If you’re like most people, the answer is a big yes.

And it’s easy to see why we feel that way — most of us are juggling countless tasks every day, from running our businesses to managing our families to looking after our health.

It’s no wonder that we sometimes feel like a circus act, spinning all those plates and hoping none of them crash.

If you want to break this cycle and stop your brain feeling like it’s in overwhelm mode all the time, there’s a simple but life-changing hack you can use.

It’s called closing your loops.

Let’s break it down.

Why Open Loops Weigh Us Down

Imagine your brain is a computer.

Each unfinished task, unanswered email, or unresolved issue is like an open tab in your browser, slowing everything down and draining your energy.

These open tabs — or ‘loops’ — clutter your mind, making it difficult to concentrate and sapping your creativity and motivation.

Successful people understand that closing these loops is not just a cool productivity tip — it’s actually a game-changing life hack.

By finishing what we start and resolving outstanding issues, we can free up mental space, reduce stress, and unlock our full potential.

How Open Loops Build Up

The concept of closing loops might sound simple enough…

Yet in reality, most of us keep putting off tackling these tasks until “someday” in the future when we hope it will feel easier or more convenient.

But let’s be real: that magical “someday” rarely comes.

Instead, these tasks pile up, adding to our mental load and making us feel more and more overwhelmed.

The Solution: Designate Time to Close Your Loops

If “some day” is never going to magically appear, then we need to make it happen.

So: schedule a regular “loop closing” session once a week, once a month, or whatever feels right to you.

This will become your dedicated loop-closing time, and it’s going to feel SO good.

It’s your chance to: schedule that long-overdue dentist appointment, follow up that unpaid invoice, finally cancel that unused subscription, return your aunt’s phone call, or clear out the sock drawer that’s been bugging you for months.

Any niggling task that needs to be tied up, followed up or resolved, now’s the time.

Most importantly, you want to treat your loop closing session as though it’s a meeting with your biggest client — protect it, prioritize it, and don’t flake out.

Want A Taste Of How It Feels To Close Your Loops?!

Imagine you’ve planned a four-week holiday to your favorite destination.

You’ll be completely uncontactable during your trip, so in the weeks before you leave, you tackle EVERYTHING on your to-do list — emails, projects, invoices, random phone calls you need to return, all of it.

As you shut down your laptop on your last day of work, you feel elated. There’s NOTHING to do for the next four weeks but enjoy your vacation.

Your mind feels light, clear, and so very free.

THAT is the feeling you’ll start experiencing regularly when you get intentional about closing your loops. ✨

Ready to experience that incredible feeling more often? Here’s how to close your loops: Brain dump: Jot down every single open loop. Include everything occupying mental space, no matter how trivial, no matter the life area. Prioritize: Look at your list and identify the tasks that will have the most significant impact once completed. These are your high-priority loops. Think of them as the VIPs of your loop-closing list. Take immediate action: Dedicate a focused block of time to closing these loops. Start with the highest priority tasks. Even just 30 minutes a day can lead to incredible results.

Hacks for Next-Level Clearing

For even greater success in closing your loops, consider these advanced tips:

  • Make sure you’re in a high energy state when you tackle these tasks. Your brain needs to be in peak condition to handle closing loops efficiently.
  • Schedule enough time! Humans are notoriously bad at estimating how long things will take. Make sure to allocate more time than you think you’ll need to avoid feeling disheartened.
  • Batch your loops: Group similar tasks together. Got a bunch of errands to run? Do them all at once. Need to schedule some appointments? Knock them all out in one session.
  •  Systematize for the future! While closing loops, if you spot a way to make future tasks easier, do it straight away. For example, if you’re overdue for a dentist appointment, book your appointment, then immediately set a recurring reminder in your calendar every 6 months to book your next one.

The Bottom Line

By closing your loops, you’ll clear your mind and transform the way you feel and function. Your mental space will expand, allowing for greater creativity, productivity, and peace of mind. And you’ll move from feeling weighed down to light and free.

Honestly, what’s not to love?!

So tell me, Beautiful — what’s the first loop you’re going to close? ✨

A Crucial Question To Ask Yourself Right NOW:

What would you do differently this week if you truly believed that you were your most valuable asset?

Maybe you’d turn off your phone for an hour each day, take that yoga class you’ve been thinking about, or finally book a vacation.

Whatever it is, start small, but start treating yourself like the asset you truly are.

The return on investment is clear: better health, better decisions, and a better business.
