Your body was wired for an ancient world. So how on earth are we meant to thrive in this modern era? Today’s podcast guest, Daniel Vitalis, says it’s about awakening our instincts, and freeing our bodies –– and minds –– from the degenerative effects of domestication… which is exactly what we dive deep into in this episode.
Daniel is my go-to health expert and has been for many years. He is incredibly knowledgeable on ancestral health and lifestyle design, and a wealth of wisdom when it comes to human health, personal development, and strategic living.

His message of re-wilding your life and spirit has the power to literally transform the way you live and feel each day, so I know you’re going to find this episode as jaw-dropping and inspiring as I did.
Get ready for your mind to be blown. (Oh, and bring a pen — you’re gonna want to take notes for this one!)

WOW. What an epic episode! Well done my love 🙂 He is one seriously wise dude.
I love this man. Amazing episode! Such gems !!
Thank you lovely xx
What an amazing episode… definitely relistening to it again 🙂 I have a quick question… Which would you say is better: eating non organic meat versus not eating them at all? If you can’t get hold of organic meat, is it better to leave it? Thank you sooo much Melissa x
Great question! Well for me it’s not always about organic. Rather, I like to think of myself as a qualitarian who goes to the source and looks for providers who feed their animals their natural diet and live in their natural environment… which = healthy happy animals = quality. An organic chicken who is chowing down on organic soy and organic corn may not be the best choice 😉 Example, we buy eggs from a farm that has only 40 hens per hectare who are free to roam and forage. That’s quality!
Loved this interview. I totally agree
Hi Melissa!
First I want to thank you for the epic podcast you’ve done. It’s awesome! I know it will change my life like your Mastering your mean girl book. <3
This was the first episode I heard and I chose it because the title was so interesting. It's very important and eye opening to get different insights and views to the diets, food and nutrition.
I'm a lactovegetarian and I want to note some things about this great episode. Good guality vegetarian diet is HEALTHY. It's not dangerous or bad for children, the unhealthy modern diet is. Nowadays most of the children eat unhealthy diet with lots of energy but lack of nutrients. It's not about vegetarian food which makes them sick. My opinion for vegan diets is that it's not a natural way of eating because of the lack of bioactive B12 vitamin. When your diet is in balance you should get ALL the essential nutrients from food.
Eating vegetarian is not only that 'wrong kind of spirituality'. Respecting life in it's all forms can some of us mean not to eat meat. And the worry about unsustainable way to consume meat is real. I'm happy I 'm not the part of that meat industry, where the only reason to grow the animals is to eat them. Our seas are full of plastic, pollution and they are so badly overfished. The situation with seas are terryfying. And all of us can not eat wild animals because they would be gone very soon. There's too many people on this planet to eat the wild animals nowadays.
I'm a realistic and I know that it's important to hunt the overpopulation of some wild animals every now and then with cycles of nature and it's a wonderful thing to eat every part of the meat. But the problem is grown animals and overhunting in some situations. Personally I made the decision to be vegetarian because I feel myself much calmer when I can be sure I don't support any unethically animal business. And I still enjoy seeing the way my family friends hunt and cook their delicious meats following the seasons.
People who live in the modern society don't need meat because we can choose the good guality of plant based diet without starving. And it means we don't have to eat those unhealthy vegetable oils, genetically modified plants or junk food from a packet. Organic, natural formed and ethically farmed food is the key. And if the state of our nature and seas were stable then we could eat some meat.
What come's to ayurveda It's not the ayurvedic medical system which have spoiled the landscape of India or made harm for the nature. PEOPLE does that. You can't say that ayurveda itself cause the problems! Ayurveda is an old and very respectful holistic medical system which really works and has an incredible knowledge of human function although the people who developed it thousands of years ago didn't know so many things we know nowadays about human function. Ayurveda is NOT perfect but there's no a perfect medical system in this planet and I think ayurveda is one of the good ones.
I hugely respect all of the healthy ways to eat. And there's not wrong or right ways to eat so long you care about your body and your environment as much as you can.
Love,
Ida-Sofia, your Finnish fan
All the way from Finland. Love it 🙂 Wow Ida-Sofia, what an incredible comment. I am so grateful you have taken the time to be here and write this for the tribe. It’s really a matter of personal choice and what works best for you as an individual. We are all so different! Although I do believe industrial seed oils are simply destructive for all body types. For me I have found a way of living which makes me thrive, and this could change, which I am always open to. There is so much here and as much as I would love to, it’s hard to answer this completely in a comment, BUT, I can say that I am passionate about covering all this in The Melissa Ambrosini Show with various guests so we can dig deep into the topics. That’s really why I created the podcast, to go deep and explore these important topics that can really effect all of us so much. So please stay tuned. I will do my best to serve you. Love Melissa x
Thanks for your answer Melissa. I will stay tuned! And I want to say this episode was SO inspiring and I learned so so much new things to share with my friends and family. And yes, we are all so different. <3
Thank you to you both I am so empower to find out more on who I am buying from and how i am voting with my dollar for me and my fam bam. So much that I manifested this meat man to meet at my local markets. I was wanting your help in a list of questions you would ask to know more about the meat .. The right questions blessings and love you beautiful humans
Hey Lauren,
WOW! You are a powerful manifester.
Some of the things I would ask are…
+ Are the animals grass fed and grass finished?
+ How are they raised?
+ Do they get exposure to sunlight etc?
+ How are they killed? What are your practices?
+ If they get sick what do you do? Do you give them antibiotics?
+ Do you use pesticides and chemicals on the grass they eat?
+ Do they eat their natural diet?
I would start there and if anyone else has any to add or if I have missed something please feel free to add to our list.
Great podcast … my first of yours Melissa. As a food producer there was so much good in this as we strive to produce real food that is nutritionally valuable and is holistic in it’s nature. I think discussions such as this one you’ve had with Daniel are a great way to build connections with producers (farmers/graziers) and the consumers. Well done!
Mel, this episode really really inspired me! Daniel has such a powerful presence and I love that he is not afraid to speak from the heart. I can’t wait to share it with some of my vegetarian friends. You mentioned in the podcast that you have done some cooking classes to learn about cooking with organs and off-cuts. Where did you do these classes? I have the same reservations as you about cooking with off-cuts and not doing it properly!
Love your work and can’t wait for Goddess Group to start back up again xxx
Hey angel,
Isn’t he amazing! I love him so much.
I did my class with Star Anise Organic Wholefoods. But Feather and Bone also do them so check them both out and let me know what you think.
xx
Thanks so much Mel! The Feather and Bone workshop on secondary cuts sounds perfect. I’ll keep an eye out for a date I can attend and I’ll let you know how it goes! Xxx
Hi Mel,
Another fantastic episode and a very interesting topic. I agree that everyone needs to find what feels right for them as there is so much research and knowledge out there it can be difficult to know what’s best.
Personally I opt for a vegan lifestyle as, as Ida-Sofia noted, I feel good knowing I am living healthfully, ethically and compassionately, and according to my own personal values. I do think it’s also important to note that animals are not the only source of the essential fatty acids mentioned by Daniel, such as DHA, so for those listeners who wish to avoid consuming animal products (yet also want to avoid the reduced Intelliegence of our species, as described by Daniel) we can still find these nutrients in a range of plant based foods and algae supplements.
Thanks again for such an interesting discussion!
Saarah thank you for this post. I was thinking the same thing about plant based omega 3s, 6s and DHA. I actually came to the comments to see if someone already asked about this before I posted the question. Can you share the brands you trust for these supplements? Melissa, I’m curious to know what you think about plant based sources for these fatty acids, and if you can recommend some trusted brands as well? Btw, I’m knew to your podcast and quickly making my way through all the episodes, loving them! Thank you!!!
Hi Marcella, when we need to balance out our Omega’s we pretty much get everything from BodyBio. They are the best quality, but not the cheapest for sure!
Man this is mind blowing! So many light bulb moments! How did i not know of this before now…
Cannot thank you enough!
Hey Mel! OMG, this podcast couldnt have come at a better time, and the info is so rich and powerful. THANK YOU so so so much. Im really digging this new series, its epic 🙂 xxx
