Can you relate to feeling moody, stressed out, sleep deprived, and so not interested in getting ‘busy’ in the boudoir?! If so, you’re not alone. Today’s podcast guest, Dr. Sara Gottfried has found that these symptoms are super common in women across the globe. And unfortunately, they’re often told it’s “just part of being a woman”. But Dr. Sara says NO: you can reverse *all* these problems and completely reclaim your zest for life, simply by getting your hormones into tip-top shape… and in today’s episode, she’s showing us exactly how to do it.

Dr. Sara Gottfried is one of my favourite voices in women’s health. A Harvard-educated physician and board-certified gynecologist, her work brings together cutting-edge research, holistic therapies, and a whole-body approach to get to the root of health issues (not just treat the symptoms).

Her underlying philosophy is simple, but life-changing: when a woman’s hormones are balanced, she’s unstoppable… but when they’re out of whack (as can so often happen amid the stress, toxins and go-go-go pace of modern life) it can trigger full-scale chaos in her body, mind and spirit. Luckily, Dr. Sara has plenty of powerful strategies (and timely truth-bombs) to share, and she’s spilling all her secrets in this eye-opening episode.

So if you want to learn how to reset your genes, halt (or even REVERSE) the ageing process, and get your hormones humming like never before, this conversation is for you!

In this episode we chat about:

  • How she went  from burnt out to bursting with health and happiness (04:35)
  • How to feel at home in your own body — at last! (09:22)
  • Why your hormones are the key to optimum health (11:24)
  • The real reason your hormones are out of whack (12:50)
  • How to balance your hormones naturally (14:18)
  • What are bioidentical hormones? (16:04)
  • Don’t want to fall pregnant, but don’t want to go on the pill? Try this super effective (and super healthy) contraceptive method (23:11)
  • How to turn your genes on and off at will (25:04)
  • The #1 hack for epic health, happy hormones and optimum gene expression (26:22)
  • Why you want to sleep on your right side (36:19)
  • The best anti-ageing tip EVER! (37:45)
  • Plus so much more!

I look forward to my Thursday morning ritual of getting up, having a green smoothie, putting your podcast in my ears and going for a walk along the beach. This episode was such a lovely message to each and every woman about honoring and loving your body right down to a cellular level. A beautiful reminder about the importance of sleep and our health. Thank you for bringing a wealth of knowledge into my week each and every week. Keep doing what you’re doing!

  2. Debora says:

Thanks a lot Melissa for this fantastic podcast with Dr Sara Gottfried ! I didn’t know there were such simple and easy ways to put my hormones in balance and to feel “at home” in my own body, as a woman ! I realized that there were a lot of things I did that I thought were good for me , but that turned out to be the source of PMS. Thanks to both of you for these great tips!

    Love, Debora

  3. Isabel says:

This has to be one of my favourite interviews/interviewees so far! What brilliant podcasts, Melissa and thank you Sara!

    • You’re so welcome Isabel. What were your top 3 biggest takeaways?

      • Isabel says:

Hey Melissa 🙂 How important sleep is for healing (I need reminding of that one); to not be on Instagram before bedtime (that comment was so for me right now!); and that by regulating our hormones, we can give our mean girl some help in conquering stress-related issues. I’ve just bought some ashwagandha to do just that and I’ll be upping my vitamin C intake. 🙂

      • Yes, Isabel, sleep is SOOOOO important! As is getting off all devices a few hours before bed. That always helps me. xx

  4. Kyle says:

Hi Melissa, I discovered you while you were being interviewed on the Goal Digger’s Podcast with Jenna Kutcher. I love your podcast and the amazing people you have interviewed. I even started listening to your husband Nick’s podcast as well. I was wondering, as a post menopausal woman if you might have someone on sometime to address the unique issues we face. I loved your interview with Dr. Gottfried and understand the need for sleep but with hot flashes and night sweats I often wake up 4-6 times a night so just going to bed at a reasonable hour and hoping for 7.5-8 hours, well it hardly ever happens. Thank you again for all you do! Kyle (BTW, I am female!)
