Back in 2010 when I really started on my journey, MindBodyGreen was one of the first websites I swooned over. My bestie Jess told me about it and within moments I signed up to their newsletter and devoured as much information as I possibly could.
MindBodyGreen is a hub for health and wellness knowledge and a corner of the interwebs I love to visit. Recently I was in New York for my book tour and as I was sitting in the epic MindBodyGreen office with the founder Jason Wachob I had to pinch myself. Holy smokes! I am here in the space where my love and passion for wellness started, I thought. This is AWESOME!!
Which is why I am so excited to share this interview with you today to not only celebrate MindBodyGreen and Jason, but the launch of his first book ‘Wellth: How I Learned to Build a Life, Not a Résumé’. I devoured this book on the flight over to New York and loved it. Jason’s mission for the book which was to redefine successful living and offer readers a new life currency to build on, one that is steeped in wellbeing… or as he calls it, ’Wellth’. He is talking my language!
In this interview with Jason Wachob founder of MindBodyGreen, you will learn…
- How he went from an equity trader to wellness entrepreneur.
- How yoga saved his life.
- How his book was born, how his writing process unfolded, and how he doesn’t have a loud Bad Boy.
- How MindBodyGreen was born.
- Why you can’t wait for inspiration to strike.
- How to find balance in life and his secret weapon.
- The power of yoga and meditation for business and life.
- The importance of understanding mindlessness vs mindfulness.
- His 3 biggest business lessons (this is epic!).
- How to hire the right staff to bring your dream to life.
- How to work with your lover and the importance of setting healthy boundaries.
- Why he didn’t pay himself for the first 3 years of MindBodyGreen.
- His prediction of what’s next for wellness entrepreneurs, both online and with social media. And so much more.
Let’s dive in…
Pretty epic, huh?! I love this gentle giant and am so grateful for the work he does in the world.

Hi there Mel!
Loved this video!
I am just wondering if I could get your opinion on something. I have been struggling with a feeling the past few weeks. My sister in law was diagnosed with PCOS, IBS and some other health issues late last year. She has been advised by her nutritionist & naturopath to change her diet and has been given herbal remedies to heal- (she has been trying to get pregnant as she may not be able to later due to her PCOS). She hasn’t been following any of the diet advice, but whenever we catch up for a chat she expresses to me her sadness for feeling unwell still and not being comfortable in her body. I know I cant make her change her ways, only she can. And I know all i can do is be the example, im just having a hard time with holding back and not saying something and feeling frustrated by it. I have sat with the feeling before but it continues to come up whenever i get a snapchat of her KFC or her stories from her hangover. I feel as though im judging her and i dont want to! Any thought?
Thank you so much x
Hey Sarah,
I know exactly how you feel as I can relate. If I was you I would sit her down and have an open, honest, loving, heart to heart conversation with her. Speak from your heart and you will reach hers. Give that a try and let me know how you go.
Sending you so much love.
xx
Thanks so much for that, I have been giving her different books and cookbook that have helped me (yours included 😉 ) but she will either look over them once, or not at all. I’m not sure if it is my meal girl telling me that I shouldn’t have this chat with her will as it will upset her, I’m just not sure how to go about it or if it is my place to say something at all? x
It’s always your place to speak your truth angel. Feel the fear and do it anyway 😉
An incredibly insightful post I had not heard of Jason before but I will definitely be reading his book and checking out his website he talks about such relevant topics. I love the concept of Mind body green it epitomize
that we need to move beyond just the exterior and really drive within to work on our mindset as well.
What an awesome interview – so real and down to earth. I had heard of MindBodyGreen ages ago but wasn’t in the right head space to go there.
But with the lifestyle change choice, I have taken a leap of faith and with a gentle nudge from my daughter, I contacted you Melissa and have been loving all yours and the other Goddess encouragement, along with the Mastering your Mean Girl course and book. I can feel the difference in my life and it’s epic. I still have quite a few bouts of ‘mind freeze’ fear but then I do one of your meditations or read something on your site and it helps me get back on track.
I will definitely be looking into MindBodyGreen to help obtain more balance in my life too.
It’s time!
and I need to start taking care of this wonderful temple I have been given.
HUGE thanks and love to you and the other incredible Goddesses xxx
Great interview. I thought Jason’s insights on social media and branding were really interesting! Strong brand recognition and congruency across media platforms is so true. It’s not just about putting up any old FB post….
I will be checking out Jason and Mind Body Green! Looks really interesting.
Thanks Mel. xo
It’s just amazing to see people trade jobs and roles and do so well for themselves and the communities they serve. Thank you so much for doing this interview Melissa. I’m heading over to check out Jason’s book now 🙂
I love the part about being a “conscious workaholic.” Working as a full-time writer and starting my own blogazine for women can be time consuming, but its so important to remember to take care of ME too, as it can only help me be a better woman and entrepreneur. 🙂 Great vid!
Hi Melissa,
Great interview, Jason has such a lovely manner & he’s very easy to listen to. I loved the piece about finding that middle ground & the how important Yoga & meditation are to him. I’ll defo be reading his book
Much Love
Deb xx
