There are times in life where you come across someone and you just know you were meant to meet each other. Your stars align at a divine time and they deeply impact your life. I had this experience with Bhava Ram.
My husband and Bhava had been friends for a while when I was first introduced to him on Skype one afternoon. I then went on to read his incredible book, Warrior Pose: How Yoga (Literally) Saved My Life, which deeply and profoundly impacted me.
Bhava Ram is the real deal! He’s someone who walks his talk and is one of the most authentic and inspiring souls I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Hollywood picking up the rights for his book to make a feature film about his life. I feel truly grateful to have him in my life and I am so excited to share this interview with you today!
In this interview with Bhava Ram, author of Warrior Pose and founder of Deep Yoga, you will learn…
- Bhava’s personal transformational story from award-winning NBC war correspondent Brad Willis, to the permanently disabled man with a broken spine and terminal throat cancer, to yogi Bhava Ram.
- How yoga and meditation saved his life.
- The power of mantra, visualisation, yoga and meditation.
- How to make the journey from your head to your heart.
- The power of deep yoga and how to take your practice to the next level with 3 powerful tips.
There are so many potent truths in this interview, but one thing that really pulled on my heart strings was how everything is a reflection of the agreement you make with yourself about who you are. It’s your job to do the work and change the agreement you have made. We are all born into this world perfect, whole, magnificent beings, but along the journey of life, things happen to us which make us forget who we truly are. That’s ok, but it’s our job to remember. And we all have the power inside of us to unfold our deepest potential.
I feel so inspired right now, I’d high-five you through my computer screen if I could!
You have the capacity to completely change your life and be who you have always wanted to be.
Now I want you to ponder on Bhava’s key questions:
- How can I express loving kindness today?
- How can I express gratitude today?
- What can I give?

I am completely speechless! What an extraordinary man with an extraordinary story, thank you so much for sharing this and opening my world to new possibilities, will be getting his book ASAP! X
Melissa,
What a wonderful post to wake up to this morning. And this is why I just want to say thank you for what you do. I discovered your site at a lower point in my life and since then your words, philosophies and blogs continue to lift me up, inspire me and put wind underneath my wings when it is needed. We all need some guidance along the way and, even though you are more than half way around the globe, your words and stories have guided me when I needed it the most, just like today.
Above we are asked to ponder the question, among others, “how can I express gratitude for today?” And the answer is to appreciate all that I have and have been given as a human, because it is so much, and stop looking and the things I do not have and “badly, badly want,” and other perceived weaknesses. For today I will just say “thank you” for who I am and “thank you” for who the other is.
I can not wait to see how your business, work and contributions evolve in the months and years to come, and thank YOU!

Wow! I could listen to him all day! So many things I relate to in the negativity we have about ourselves. Since losing my husband to cancer 10 years ago I gave been static and lost. I now believe I can grow and become happy and confident again, and it takes time. Love that emphasis on nothing happens overnight and we will stumble, realist expectations. Thank you x
Thank you for this valuable life lesson, I can’t wait to read Bhava’s book.
I am going to smile at strangers, I am going to tell my beloved ones how much they mean to me, I am nourishing my body and mind with healthy food and a peaceful attitude, I am choosing love over fear in any situation.
I had the same experience when it comes to yoga, I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks, but when I came to my first yoga lesson I knew “this is it, this is my healing”. This happened just a week ago, but I know that my life purpose is to inspire people making the most out of their life.
Lots of love your way, Melissa and everyone else in this beautiful community!
Melissa,
Thank you so much for sharing Bhava Ram with us all – listening to his voice resonate with authenticity and love as he tells his story of courage and healing is a reminder for me of the healing potential within us all…within me, his story is the one I needed to hear.
He’s also a reminder to me of how truly beautiful men can be and my ‘whole body goose bump’ moment was when he said “When we have that noise in our mind, we can’t clearly hear the whisper of our soul”.
Thank you both so much for your generosity, care and love.

Wow feeling like I can wake up tomorrow and take on the world 🙂 MUST buy his book xx thank u
What a truly beautiful soul, thank you for sharing Mel. Some absolutely golden nuggets in there xx
This video was everything and more! Just what I needed to hear tonight. I have been on a long journey of healing the past 7 months from both physical & emotional imbalances. It has absolutely been the hardest time in my life so far. However, during these several months, I have grown to know myself, love myself, & trust myself more than ever before. I know this is due to the fact that I have been meditating & practicing yoga daily as my form of healing. Bhava Ram reminded me in this video the importance of my practice & why I keep on doing it. He just inspired my healing journey even more. Incorporating these practices into our lives as a lifestyle can beautifully transform us mentally, physically & emotionally. I love the “I am” mantra tip & overall his story of his fight & desire for a life truly lived is what deeply inspired me. Just what I needed to hear tonight. Thank you both! I absolutely loved this video. -Nikki
Gorgeous interview Mel. Bhava Ram’s book The Eight Limbs Of Yoga was one of the first books on Yoga I read – and I recommend it often to my students. Beaver’s story is so heartfelt, and I truly hope this interview and post inspires your readers to seek way beyond the asana practice into something far deeper and greater than one can imagine!
Much love xo

What a great interview, so inspiring, I have ordered Warrior Pose and look forward to reading it. I’m currently on the mend from surgery and injuries which have unfortunately hindered my practice greatly as of late. Listening to this is a powerful reminder that what happens off the mat is just as important as to what happens on the mat. I will also be downloading some of your meditations Melissa, to help me regain this part of my practice back whilst my body recovers again. Thank you both xx
Great idea Nicola, meditation is key.
Please let me know what you think of Warrior Pose, it’s one of my favorite books of all time. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
xx
Wow, what an amazing interview. Thank you so much Melissa. I have fallen in love with yoga – or have become hooked, and love the advice on taking it deeper into my heart. I have also been feeling the inner calling to cleanse my body and change my diet, but have felt very overwhelmed about where to start, so this was so appropriate for me in so many ways. I can’t wait to read Warrior pose, thanks again for sharing such a beautiful soul and his story x
He is such an inspiration isn’t he?! What an incredible story, and yes, definitely read Warrior Pose… mind blowing. Thanks for being here Katie. Love Melissa x
