If, like most people, your answer is a sheepish “ummm, never!”, then you’re going to love the mega insights dropped by today’s podcast guest, Jim Kwik — an expert on the most important organ in your body (your brain) who’s here to help us ramp up our mind power and give ourselves a mental edge.
Jim Kwik is the founder of Kwik Learning and a widely recognized expert in speed-reading, memory improvement, brain performance, and accelerated learning. I’m not sure If this is where we put our top 3 takeaways from this episode but I’m going to put them anyways because it was SO FREAKIN GOOD!! My top 3 were…
1. Reading for 45 mins per day equates to approximately a book a week! *Mind-Blowin!* I feel like if more people knew this they’d definitely make reading more of a priority, I sure have now!
2. When Jim said ‘what if the only things you got to keep in your life were the things you showed gratitude for today’ – game.changer. It’s called me to step my gratitude game up megatime.
3. “Learn with the intention of teaching someone else” – So simple yet such a shift from just observing information to actually absorbing it.
So much golden goodness but those are my top 3 I think! (I also really loved how he used the body parts to remember the brain foods because I still remember them!)
Thanks so much Melissa & Jim!!
You’re so welcome sista. Love your takeaways, thanks for sharing. xx
This podcast was exactly what I needed to hear! I was listening in the car and it kept skipping and landed on this one and at first I was frustrated that my phone wasn’t playing the one I had selected, but I knew there must have been a great reason for it! I was in a very serious bus crash 7 months ago which left me with 13 fractures, 1 of them to the skull. I have felt like my cognitive function just hasn’t been quite the same since so even the simple message in this that “yes, you can rebuild your brain” was the exact reminded and encouragement that I needed. Also, the part around talking to yourself positive (e.g. I am not good at remembering names YET) was very impactful for me. So glad I came across this podcast and very excited to delve into more of Jim’s resources! Thank you 😀
Wasn’t it awesome?! So glad you loved it as much as I did honey. Enjoy diving deeper into Jim’s work, he is AMAZING! xx
I have been listening to you for over a year, found you through Dr Cabral whom I adore. Anyway, you have such insightful guests on your show and this episode was mind blowing. WOW, WOW. So many take aways and I am going to listen again and take notes.
Love when he said, learn with the intention of teaching someone else, very powerful and totally changes the way we pay attention. Loved all the brain foods and I eat all of them, was so happy when he mentioned them. Make the most important thing, the most important thing, seems so simple and intuitive but we don’t always do that. Thank you for bringing him on the show. AMAZING.
Pleasure Jane. How epic is he! I LOVED this episode so much too. Keep shining angel. xx
