Mimi, welcome to the show. I am so excited to have you here, but before we dive in, can you tell us what you had? On your Bahamas breakfast this morning?
Mimi: Oh my gosh. Okay. My Bahamas breakfast. My husband actually made me breakfast, which [00:03:00] doesn’t happen often. I’m usually the cook of the house. I had eggs on sourdough with butter on the sourdough.
Melissa: I love that. And before we got recording, you were talking about how you’ve been living in The Bahamas for five years. What took you to The Bahamas?
Mimi: Gosh. Yeah. When the pandemic started, my husband, we were just dating at the time. My husband and I decided that we wanted to just go kind of escape the pandemic and go live on a remote island somewhere and just kind of wait it out.
And then we ended up loving it and finding a community here and absolutely falling in love with it. And we’ve just decided, you know what? This is our place. I love that so much.
Melissa: Now, before we were recording, we were saying how. We have known each other since, yeah, nine years ago when I came on your podcast.
That doesn’t even exist anymore, but so much has happened in the last nine years, and I wanna go back to [00:04:00] like how this all began for you. Take us back. How did you get here? How did this all unfold?
Mimi: Yeah. Wow. Really my transformation happened in that nine year period. So I first met you at the beginning of this crazy journey.
I was just getting into personal development. I decided to start a podcast talking about personal development, interviewing experts in the wellness space, and yeah, that, that really was the beginning for me. So my transformation. Was pretty dramatic. Every area of my life changed when I started committing to this work.
And the reason that I even came to this work of personal development in the first place is because I was feeling very lost in life. I was very unsatisfied with my finances, with my health, my body, my mindset, my confidence. I had never been in a relationship before. This was almost a decade ago. I was just.[00:05:00]
Numbing out on my phone too much, partying too much. I was not going down a life path that I felt proud of. So that was really the breaking point that got me into personal development. And then it, you know, just started really changing my life and. Where I am now, every single pillar of my life, and I talk about this in my book, activate Your Future Self.
We all have these five pillars of life. Your mental, physical, spiritual, financial, and social. Those are the five pillars that we all have in our lives that we can then look at. Audit. So I audited those pillars at that time in my life and I was at a below a three for all of them out of 10. And that was really the reason I wanted to start transforming.
And now I’m living my dream life in The Bahamas with a business that serves hundreds of thousands of women. And I try to make personal development and transformation a bit more simple for [00:06:00] people.
Melissa: I love that. What was the first thing that you got your teeth into on this personal development journey?
Was it a book, was it a coach? Was it, you know, how did you first even be exposed to this world? Was it something someone said to you? Take us back to that moment, and then what happened from there?
Mimi: It’s a great question, Melissa, because personal development was like not that cool at that time, you know, almost 10 years ago, not that many people were talking about it, so there were limited resources.
But I was reading, you know, the most basic personal development book was my first one I read, and that was The Success Principles by Jack Canfield. It’s so good. It really just reset my belief system. The first chapter that is titled, you are 100% responsible for your life and for someone that had a victim mentality for a huge portion of her, of her life, you know, that reality was a [00:07:00] big, you know, wake up call because I had to look at the life I was currently living and I had to start to understand that I created all of this, but then.
Once you acknowledge that belief and truly believe it, something amazing happens. You actually realize that you are responsible for your future. So it was a very empowering idea and it was, you know, a lot of dark, dark nights of the soul, looking at what I have created in my life and realizing this is all up to me.
And it was also very motivating, knowing this is all up to me.
Melissa: Very similar thing happened to me. Well, a realization when I ended up in hospital in 2010, so this was 15 years ago. This was when my awakening happened, and it was in the hospital where I had this realization that surely God didn’t put us here to suffer.
Surely God put us here to realize the truest full potential of ourselves. [00:08:00] And in that moment I then the second realization was. I am the one that has put me in this hospital bed and I’m the only one that can get me out. And it was that big responsibility piece that we have to take ownership of. Because if we don’t do that, we stay in victim mentality.
Why me? Why is this happening to me? This is because of my parents, all that boyfriend that dumped me, or whatever it is. And that keeps us in that very limited victim mentality. But as soon as we shift into. I am the co-creator with the creator of this beautiful life of mine, and I take full responsibility for it.
When we shift into that mentality, that is when the miracles start to happen, the magic starts to happen, and you start to really, truly live your life.
Mimi: Yeah. Yeah, I couldn’t agree more. It’s, it’s so true. And the reality is that, you know, we can change anything. We can change our [00:09:00] thoughts. We can change our personality, we can change our confidence, we can change our finances, we can change our circumstance, and just understanding that in itself will shift so much for anyone.
Right? Just really acknowledging that that dream life that you can visualize, you can also create. You just have to become the type of person that has that life. That’s the science backed manifestation I talk about. To create your dream life, you must first become the version of you that has it. You need to embody the self image of your future self that has that life you want.
And it all comes down to how you think, how you feel, how you see yourself, your identity.
Melissa: Yeah, I love that so much. I wanna hear what. The app is, I wanna know what’s inside the app. Who is the app for? How did you create the app? When did the app birth into the world?
Mimi: So I’ll kind of bring you back to, before [00:10:00] I started this business about eight years ago, I again was doing all the personal development things for a couple years at that point, and I wasn’t seeing quick change.
I was seeing very small incremental change, but I was getting really impatient and I like a shortcut. I’m the type of person that likes things done quickly. So I was noticing little improvements, but I still wasn’t. Manifesting more money. I wasn’t stepping into the body of my dreams, I was lacking still in all these areas, and it felt like an uphill battle.
So I was learning a lot at the time. ’cause I was reading and consuming all these books about neuroscience, neuroplasticity, how the brain and visualization can truly create this new life for you. And I was reading all the things right, so. There came a moment about eight years ago where I realized the one thing that I wasn’t actually doing was visualization embedded into my daily moments.
I had tried meditating and listen nothing against meditation. It’s amazing to calm your [00:11:00] nervous system, to clear your head, and we all need meditation. It’s a beautiful thing. But at that time in my life, I didn’t understand how sitting down and clearing my mind and meditating would actually help me transform into my future self with this intense energy.
I wanted something. That could make me feel unstoppable, energized, alive, and I felt like when I was meditating, it was just calming me down. I wanted something to ignite that like intense motivation inside of me on on call. I didn’t wanna wait till I felt motivated to get up and do something. I wanted to.
To have a tool that would make me feel that way that was visualization focused because I knew that visualizing my future made me feel very unstoppable. So anyways, I remember the moment I was in my 200 square foot studio apartment in London where I was living at the time. And I decided to take out my phone and record a voice memo to myself.
And this voice memo [00:12:00] was essentially a guided visualization, just telling me what my future feels like, telling me who I am, the version of myself I wanted to be, just reiterating those beliefs into my mind, some affirmation sprinkled in, you know, just words. And then I listened to it and it was good. But it needed something else.
So I added it to Garage Band on my computer, and then I started to download all these like cinematic inspiring songs I’d find on YouTube. And then I’d start layering it in like these oral intense, beautiful songs that they use in movies. And then I added it all together and it was like, whoa, I feel very different listening to this.
This is like the most incredible thing I’ve ever heard. So. Long story short, that was actually the first activation. I didn’t realize it. Activation is not meditation. It’s a new category of audio that I developed for myself initially, and then a couple years ago decided to make an app offering it to the public with over [00:13:00] 800, you know, activations on the app.
So we have a ton of content on there, but it all started from a need I had. And the beautiful thing, Melissa, is that I listened to these audios back in the day with my eyes open. I wouldn’t close my eyes and listen to them. I would listen to them while I was walking to the gym. I would listen to them while I was cooking dinner, while I was getting ready in the morning.
And it, it really transformed me because now I know after looking at all the science, that when you are visualizing in motion with your eyes open, you actually start to teach your body to be the new self in these everyday moments. And that acts as like a modern take on classical conditioning. We’ve all heard of the Pavlov’s dog theory.
Pavlov rings the bell, the dog salivates. Well, I didn’t realize it at the time, but the reason these activations were so effective for me is because I was actually rewiring in real time, not with my eyes closed, where I’d open them up and feel the same that I did before. But with my eyes open, and [00:14:00] if you look at it like a graph, the Mimi for two years doing personal development before ever trying activations.
It was growing at, I was growing at a very, very, very slow pace that was incremental changes, but slow. And it was literally like this crazy bell curve when I started to listen to these activations weaved into my everyday moments, the growth. Was just undeniable. I started making more money, seeing more opportunities everywhere, showing up, like my future self, creating her life.
And I’m telling you, it, it’s been the biggest life hack that I’ve ever found, because I didn’t wanna carve out another 20 minutes out of my day to do something new. I tried all the routines, the waking up at 5:00 AM the this, the that. I did it all. I was doing more work on myself before trying these activations and seeing less results.
So. As you can tell, I’m very passionate about this. It really changed my life. It really did.
Melissa: Wow. It’s incredible. It’s so [00:15:00] amazing. You’ve created this whole new category of brain rewiring for our best self. I love it. It’s so incredible. And you spoke about before about those five key areas, physical, emotional, social, all those areas.
You said you were at a three. If someone else is listening and they feel like maybe they are at a three or a two, how can we start to get that number up back up to 10? Like what are some things that we can start to do in our everyday life besides listening to the activations that people can start to do?
To get those back up to a 10,
Mimi: a hundred percent. So obviously you can transform your life without activations. This is a very new thing and just a little hack that makes it easier. And I always say the activations app. Does not transform you. It is who you become. When you listen to activations that transforms you.
So if [00:16:00] you can tune in whatever it is that you can find that will help you tune into your future self energy, that is what you need to focus on. And also really try to do this in everyday moments. Of course, it’s great if you have your meditation practice and you close your eyes, that’s good. But the real change comes from being your future self with your eyes open.
So if you take away anything from this conversation, anyone listening, these three words have really just helped me in so many stages of my transformation and it, these three words, I would remind myself of them whenever I’d feel like I fell off track whenever I felt like change is too complicated, whenever I felt like it was just hard.
And those three words are be her now. I would remind myself to just cut the noise. The truth in transformation in this work and becoming the version of me I wanted to be was simply [00:17:00] remembering to just be her. Now, in my book I write about there’s two steps to transformation. If you really wanna simplify everything, the first step is clarity.
You must first get crystal clear on the version of you that you wanna become on the future life you want. Obviously, that’s the first step, or else you don’t know where you’re going. But the second step is becoming. Because if you can be her now in the grocery line, at the school, pickup, wherever you are, while you’re doing your makeup, if you can just feel like you are her, you start to familiarize yourself with her movements, with her thoughts, with how she feels about herself and your future self.
You. I use the term future self. You don’t need to, you know, use that same term if it doesn’t resonate, you can use best self. I use it synonymously with your favorite self, so your future self. You can be her now. It is not something that lives in the future, but just remembering that you can embody her [00:18:00] energy and the more you embody her energy.
The closer you will get to that life, because when you embody her energy and you think her thoughts and you just get familiar with how it is to actually live as her, then you’re gonna start seeing opportunities that you never saw before. That always existed, but because your, your brain is reprogrammed, the RAS, the reticular activating system in your brain is refiled.
This is the the filtration system we all have in our brains that essentially tells us what to consciously notice. Or not notice. Right? And that literally gets programmed by your beliefs, by your thoughts. So if you start thinking like her, then you’re gonna start seeing opportunities. And when you start to change your RAS, that’s when you really notice things shifting in your life.
Melissa: Mm, yes. Yes, yes. This is something that I’m disrupting a lot in the industry right now. You know, a lot of people are out there saying it’s about step into the woman you’re [00:19:00] becoming. And the thing that I’m hearing from you, and this is what I’ve been saying, is like it’s not about waiting to become her.
It’s like she’s already within you. That beautiful. Favorite self, whatever you wanna call it, that best self. She’s already in there and like you said, we need to be her now. It’s not this waiting to like be fully healed to become her or to have this happen, to become that version of ourselves. Like she’s already there.
She’s already in there, and it’s about. Making the conscious decision to, like you said, be her now, like embody her Now. I feel like, and this is how I describe it to my clients and to my community, it’s like our best self is in there. The woman who can hold it all is in there. And all these, like, there’s just like dirt on top.
There’s like gunk on top and we just need to clear away that gunk so that she can [00:20:00] really shine out and, and come to the surface. So I love that. Be her now. I love it. I want everyone to like put that on a post-it note, stick it on your bathroom mirror, put it on the steering wheel of your car. Be her now.
Stop waiting. Don’t wait until. I don’t know. You are married or you’ve got the babies or the money or the business. Don’t wait. Be her now. Be that best version of yourself now. Every
Mimi: moment in every day. I’m so aligned, Melissa. I actually always say that the process of becoming your best self, your future self, your ultimate self, it’s actually a process of unbecoming all the layers of, of what you are.
Not all the, the layers of things that we’ve just kind of built on top of each other over the years. I really believe my future self, that real, authentic potential. Mimi, she is my [00:21:00] younger self. She is that little girl that saw the world with awe and potential that thought she was unlimited, who saw, you know, the joy in everything and the magic in the world.
And that’s what I’ve come back to. So the process of becoming this new self is actually more about unbecoming what you’re not and revealing the truest self.
Melissa: Absolutely. Absolutely. Now your work. It sits at the intersection of science and soul, which I love, and a lot of the stuff I teach is like that as well.
So in simple everyday language, what is actually happening in the brain and the nervous system When someone uses activations, like how do things like neuroscience and habit formation and the subconscious filtering reality tie into this idea of becoming more magnetic?
Mimi: So one of the biggest things is that [00:22:00] reprogramming of the mind, the RAS, and really we, we need to understand how powerful our beliefs are.
Even in placebo effect studies, they’ve seen that the power of the mind is so intensely strong. So the truth is whatever you believe is true, no matter what it is that you believe, right? So. If that was the case, everyone listening, look at your belief system. If what you are believing is the truth, if what you are believing about yourself and your potential is the truth, what do you need to audit out of your mind here?
Because I used to think that it was very hard to be in a body that I felt very good in. I used to think it was hard to not have. You know, a disordered relationship with food while also feeling good in my body. I used to think it was hard to make millions a year. [00:23:00] Well, it’s not easy, but you know, I used to think it wasn’t for me that it wasn’t possible for me.
I used to think I was a victim to my circumstance, but when I started to just take in all of these new beliefs that my future self held beliefs like. If it can happen to her, it can happen to me. Of course, I can create this incredible wealth for myself. I was born to create something big like this. I am absolutely able to.
Eat intuitively and love my body while living in the body of my dreams. I can find love and someone will love me. I am lovable any of these beliefs that any of us have, you just have to train the belief first, and then you’re gonna start seeing the life unfold. You cannot live your dream life while holding onto the same negative beliefs that you’ve held onto up to this point.
You know, it just, it’s a reality check. You can’t, and so many of us wait to get that [00:24:00] thing to feel that. Positive feeling, but the hack is feeling that positive feeling now of it already being done, and that will actually magnetize that opportunity, that situation, that relationship closer to you faster.
So really it’s just reverse engineering the entire roadmap here. If you wanna become this version of yourself first, become her, and then you’re going to see the life unfold.
Melissa: Mm-hmm. Absolutely.
I have to tell you about one of my favorite brands that I use every single day. Hydrogen Health. I’m completely obsessed and there aren’t many brands that you use every day, but this is one for me and I get asked all the time about what water filters I love and use, and these are it my. So you can pop their benchtop filter on your bench.
So you always have clean, filtered water for you and your family to drink. We even travel with ours, so we pop it in the car and we take it to our Airbnb or hotel or wherever we staying. I also love to travel with their shower filters. So we take two and a spanner and we put one. Under the kitchen bench.
So we are washing our fruits and vegetables in filtered water, and then we put one on the shower so that we are bathing in clean, filtered water because our skin is our [00:29:00] largest organ and it drinks whatever we put on it. So you can bed that. I am showering in clean water when I travel, and every single day I also use their water bottle every day.
Their hydrogen skin, Mister for my skin and their portable molecular hydrogen breathing system, which this is the only one that I don’t use every single day. I usually do it when I’m working or when I’m meditating, but when I do do it, I love it. And I love health and these products make taking care of myself even easier.
Now you can use the code, Melissa, to get 20% off everything that I just mentioned. All you have to do is head to hydrogen health.net au and use the code, Melissa to get 20% off everything.
Now let’s go through those five areas and can you give some advice on each one of those, how we can get that back up to a 10?
Mimi: Yes, for sure. Okay, so. They all have a very similar process. You know, we’ll start with mental. Perhaps someone listening is struggling with confidence mindset, seeing themselves as the type of person that can wake up early and take care of themselves, whatever it is. And then you have physical, your health, your body.
Right then you have [00:25:00] financial, how much money you make, because that’s important to talk about. It’s important to be open about, you know, if you want to create more in your life, it’s not something shameful to want more abundance and wealth. It’s something that’s possible for you. Okay? And then you have social, you know, auditing the social pillar of your life.
Looking at the social relationships around you, community is so important. You look at the blue zones. Not only do they eat healthy, they also have community. Every day they, they connect, and we’re living in an age of disconnection. So how fulfilled do you feel socially and then spiritually, whatever you believe in, whatever your beliefs are, you need to have some sort of connection with something.
Right? And. The spiritual pillar is big because how much time are you actually spending on your relationship with the connection that you have, whether it is to source God, the universe, your future self, you know, whoever, whatever you wanna call it. So [00:26:00] those five pillars, they really are all so entangled.
And oftentimes we’ll see someone sign up for activations because they just wanna make more money and they love our money visualization series on the app or something. But then they end up naturally shifting every other pillar in their life while they listen because it’s the domino effect. You’re not just going to see more abundance in your life when you start doing this work of becoming your future self.
You’re going to start seeing your mindset improve, you’re going to start seeing your relationships improve. You’re going to start seeing your, your happiness and your confidence and your health improve. So really it’s all so intermingled and when you are visualizing your future self, you need to remember to feel it in your body.
Okay. That’s one of the biggest things. Visualization just with the mind doesn’t really do a lot. What I’ve learned from. This work that I’m in is that really just feeling it with your physical body is so [00:27:00] important because it imprints that feeling, that vibration into your cells. And this is not just woowoo spiritual, this is actual science.
I wrote about this in my book. We all have bio fields that have been measured around our bodies and energy influences that vibration that we hold. So when you feel the energy of your future, I call it the future self frequency. This is just. The feeling of what it is like to have achieved the life that you desire to be the version of yourself that you wanna be.
If you can just embody that in your frequency and your energy and how you feel in your body, it really starts to shift things. You really become a magnet to what you desire. And what I love about this work is that it actually doesn’t need to be complicated. You can really simplify it. You know, when it comes down to just stripping the personal development industry bear, it really comes down to [00:28:00] self-image psychology.
You know how you see yourself, your identity will create your life because it will affect the decisions you make and it is what you say at the end of the sentence. I’m the kind of person that.do. What do you say at that end, at the end of that sentence, how do you identify? That can change. Personalities can change.
You can change your identity, you can change your self image. So that’s really the first step. Clarity on what you want to change on who you want to become on the most authentic version of you, and then simply being her in everyday moments.
Melissa: I love this so much. So someone who is listening that is having that realization, I’ve been in that place.
My self-talk is not where I want it to be. What is one thing they can do right now?
Mimi: Stop thinking that it’s complicated and hard. It is so [00:29:00] much easier than you think. Let go of the belief that it requires so much work because that will put you off of it for a really long time. And the truth is, it actually isn’t that hard.
Whatever you can do to remind yourself to be her now, once you found clarity, once you know exactly how it feels really to be your future self. Any moment of the day that you can just remind yourself to snap back into it. Whether it’s like you mentioned the Post-It note on your bathroom mirror, which I have done so many times, post-it note on the back of your phone case, post-it note anywhere, you know, reminders.
I would. I used to put alarms on my phone, reminders when I was in the thick of it. I was like, I gotta be her now. I gotta remember, is there anything that can remind you? Really, again, I wanna reiterate the, the trick is to do it with your eyes open. And I mentioned before, the Pavlov’s dog theory, classical conditioning, Pavlov rings the bell.
The dog salivates. If you are doing something that reminds you to be her now, and you are [00:30:00] doing it every morning when you brush your teeth, like for example, we had. A user testimonial that someone wrote in saying, I got the app and I did the two week free trial. And all I did was the two minute pep talk activations every morning when I brushed my teeth.
And that’s all I used it for. I didn’t do the walking activations, I didn’t do anything else. Okay. And she said after a month that so much had shifted in her life. Like she went in for a raise and she spoke with more confidence and you know, her and her boyfriend got in a fight, but she spoke in a better way and they resolved it faster.
Like all these little micro moments, she just started. Seeing resolve in her favor and. The truth is that when you pair an everyday action with a new state of being and way of thinking, you actually condition yourself. So now I can honestly tell you that I’m sure if she stopped listening to activations altogether when she brushes her teeth, she will be feeling confident, magnetic, abundant when she’s brushing her teeth.
’cause she’s conditioned herself to feel that way when doing that action. [00:31:00] So it doesn’t have to be activations, it can literally be a song that you feel so connected to. It could be a podcast that inspires you, it could be anything, but it has to be an external stimuli from my experience, that reminds you to get into that state.
Because often when we just rely on our thoughts, we just think about it for five seconds and we move on to the next thing. And it’s like our thoughts are very messy and it’s hard to stick into, you know, one straight line of thinking. So that’s also why I love journaling. I love journaling. It is such a great way to keep, you know, your.
Thoughts in a orderly form on paper, and it’s free. Anyone can journal, right? So I, I love journaling. So anyone listening to answer your question that just wants something to do now go get clear and use your journal to do that, go get a piece of paper and a pen and just write down what you want in your life.
You can do the five pillars, you know, mental, physical, financial, spiritual, [00:32:00] social. You can audit your life from one to 10. What you wanna improve. Once you get that clarity. You also need to understand how it feels to be your future self. Once you’ve designed your future self, how does it feel to be her?
And then lastly, be her. Now in everyday moments. Whatever you can do to remind yourself. Activations is just a tool that you can use to be her now, but you don’t need it. You can do it with anything else. Any other external stimuli. You could even ask a friend to send each other texts throughout the day saying, Hey, like, how are you feeling?
Are you being her now? You know? So really it’s, it’s whatever works for you, but just show up and do it. Yes.
Melissa: I know for a lot of people there’s a lot of like waiting, like I’ll be her when I’m in the marriage or I’ll be her when I’m pregnant, or I’ll be her when I’m fully healed, or I’ll be her when I feel fully worthy or fully confident.
I just love that this is completely disrupting all of that, and it’s about embodying her. Right now. I talk a lot about [00:33:00] embodiment and it’s just so important because there is no over there. It’s all here in the present moment, and I often think about this with my children. I meditate every morning and I love it, and I do my journaling and I pray and I do my visualizations.
I’m gonna start doing some activations in there as well. And there’s no point in me doing all of that if I am then reactive to my children or if I’m then losing it, if I’m then not taking that version of myself into my everyday life. And so I just love that everything that we’re speaking about is about just embodying that version of you.
Right now, not waiting. Don’t wait. Let’s embody her now.
Mimi: Exactly. Yes. I love that message. It’s so simple. And we need simple, because this [00:34:00] world of self-help is so complicated. How can we just simplify it? How can we simplify it? And that’s what it is. It’s showing up for yourself and becoming the type of person that likes to work on herself, that likes to feel good because the truth is that life is so short.
You need a strong why. You know, so your why could be, life is short and I want to live my one life. As fulfilled and happy and abundant and aligned with my potential right as possible. And that is always something I come back to when I feel like I fall off track or I’m mindlessly scrolling a bit too much or I’m not eating as healthy.
It’s like, wait a minute, what’s my why? My why is I want to spend my one life feeling as good as possible, so I better start remembering that we don’t have unlimited time on on this beautiful planet. It’s, it’s, if anything like the biggest wake up call anyone can hear, it’s like, why would you keep living your one [00:35:00] precious life in a way that does not feel aligned to you?
That does not feel deep down, you know, that little voice, each of our souls tell us, Hey, maybe we’re meant for more. We need to live our one life listening to that voice. That’s my belief.
Melissa: Mm-hmm. Absolutely. You know, the Buddhists, they contemplate death every day. And I think about it a lot too because it makes me be more in every moment remembering that we’ve only got this one precious life.
Yeah, exactly. I wanna shift gears now. I wanna hear what your definition of success is and what do you attribute your success to?
Mimi: I think a relentless pursuit. Growth is the reason that I’ve made the money I’ve made today that I live the life I get to live today. ’cause Melissa, I didn’t come from money.
My parents, when growing up there were struggling artists. You know, I actually had a lot of negative [00:36:00] feelings about money when I was younger because all I really. Saw was fights and tears and stress and bankruptcies and remortgaging the house, like I had quite a bad environment with finances specifically growing up.
My parents did their best and they had a lot of pressure on them, but it was not. An abundant household when it comes to money. It was abundant in love and all the other good things. I’m very blessed with that. But financially, it was one of those things that was always causing a lot of stress, and I think that that’s actually the reason I wanted to get into this work.
It would came from a bit of an ego place at the beginning because I just wanted money so badly and I didn’t want to come to to live a life that. Where I felt stressed every day financially. So that was really my initial motivation is because I, I just wanted a different life for myself and it created this hunger inside of me.
So I think there is definitely a [00:37:00] level of hunger that is required to earn that amount. But I also think now I’ve been going through more and more of a spiritual evolution the past few years since I’ve made my money, and I’ve more and more been. You know, just looking at every other aspect of my life and thinking that, you know, I used to think money was everything at the beginning of my journey, for sure.
I’ll admit that. But now since, you know, creating all the wealth I ever visualized and more I’ve realized, yes, it’s so amazing to have that freedom and the ability to give to who I want to give to and help people and buy whatever I wanna buy, you know? That’s amazing. It’s really not everything like I really think now I, with the evolution I’ve gone through with my spirituality, I feel like I would be very fulfilled without the, the wealth that I have at the moment if it all went away tomorrow.
So it’s an interesting question you pose because my motivations have changed over the years and I deep down believe that if you [00:38:00] serve others and provide something that is highly valuable that people want, you are going to get financially wealthy. From that, and with activations, we’ve barely paid for marketing.
We’ve actually never done a paid ad. Really like we, we’ve grown from word of mouth. And I think that is a big testament to the product and how obsessed I’ve been from the beginning on creating the best, best possible product and it’s kind of just sold itself. So from an entrepreneurial perspective, the advice would be like, focus fully on the product and add as much value to people’s lives as possible.
Because when, when one person changes their life with activations. They’re getting five people signing up and I’m not even, you know, involved in that sales process, right? Like they’re telling people, okay, I’m listening to this. It’s really shifting how I feel X, y, and Z happened. I listen while I’m walking, like, and then just kind of gets people interested ’cause there isn’t anything really like this.
So I. I think it’s a bit of luck. It’s a bit of [00:39:00] hard work. Well, a lot of hard work, and it’s a lot of becoming the version of me that can support this level of wealth and a business like the one I have today. So I, I became a different per, I had to become the version of Mimi that’s comfortable with a lot of money, with a lot of responsibility, with a big, beautiful business that serves hundreds of thousands of people.
I had to become her and have that feel comfortable. Before it even happened.
Melissa: You’re amazing, babe. Truly, what you have created is incredible, and I hope you feel deeply proud of what you have created. It is a game changer for so many people, and I just really, truly hope you feel deeply proud of that and your book and all of your amazing work.
Speaking of books, if you had a magic wand and you could put one book in the school curriculum of every high school around the world, what book would you choose besides yours, which [00:40:00] absolutely should be in the curriculum, what is one other book you would choose?
Mimi: Okay, reality Trans Surfing by Vadim Zeland.
This is a humongous. Book that is translated from Russian to English. He’s this quantum physicist in Russia that just released this book into the world and then popped off the map and no one even knows where he is. And it is my philosophy. It’s insane. It’s not for someone that wants some light reading.
Melissa: I can’t believe I haven’t heard of it. So I’m gonna link to it in the show notes as well as your book. Oh yeah. No one’s heard of it. Oh wow. That sounds amazing.
Mimi: Yeah. It’s, it’s a trip. It, it’s, yeah. I am, I’m obsessed with his work, and it’s not easy to read because it’s like translated from Russian, but I deeply believe in his philosophy,
Melissa: so Cool.
I love that. Now, let’s talk about how your day [00:41:00] looks. I love hearing about how people move through their day. Talk us through a quote unquote typical day in The Bahamas. On activations with your husband, tell us like the rituals, the routines. I wanna know everything.
Mimi: Okay. So. Most of my days are different.
I have very much so come into my truth, which is I’m not the most diligent and organized and routined person, but I think that’s one of my strengths. So I eat something different for breakfast. Most mornings I am like, it’s the opposite of my husband. He literally eats the same thing for breakfast and lunch, and then when I make us dinner, it’s like a wild card.
It’s like the crazy in this day. So I’m the opposite. I kind of just, you know, I’m very intuitive. Can you tell me your human design
Melissa: and your astrology?
Mimi: Oh yeah. I am my like main astrology. My sun I think is a cancer, and then my rising and other one are Leo, and then I’m a [00:42:00] manifesting generator in human design.
Melissa: Yeah, that would explain why you like the different things for breakfast every morning. Manifesting generators, they love lots of different projects. You know their fingers are in lots of different pies.
Mimi: Yeah, totally, totally, totally. Okay, so then I woke up at seven, and then I definitely do not check my phone when I do that.
I feel disgusting, to be honest with you. And I, I used to do it all the time and I just realized I cannot do the phone in the morning thing. It just really influences my energy in a negative way. So I will go downstairs. My phone’s not even in the bedroom. It’s in the kitchen. So I’ll go downstairs, have some water, and just like have a very slow start to my day.
Maybe make a coffee. Well, not maybe. I definitely make a coffee and then I will go outside. I, we live in a beautiful home in The [00:43:00] Bahamas with a canal in the backyard. And so I go on our dock and I sit by the water and. I come out with my dog and I just have a moment. Sometimes I see a ray in the canal.
Sometimes I’ll see, you know, a turtle once I saw a shark. So that was kind of fun. But yeah, I just, I am in nature for a minute in the morning, and then I come back and sometimes I’ll journal. If I’m feeling like there’s something on my heart that I need to share, and then sometimes I will walk my dog in the morning, and when I do that, if I do a morning walk, I always listen to an activation because our walking activations are my personal favorite.
I’m telling you the music that my audio engineers and my. You know, team put together for these activations. ’cause it’s a whole thing in the background. We have script writers, audio engineers, cinema, cinematic music composers. You know that it’s a whole thing now. And selfishly, I kind of still do a lot of this for myself ’cause I listen to the content constantly.
[00:44:00] So I’ll listen to one of our walking activations. A good one for anyone that’s trying the app for the first time is become a magnetic Future self. That one’s an og. It has like hundreds of thousands of downloads. Everyone loves that one. And then I will do a walking activation, and then I’ll come back home and I’ll eat something.
I always eat breakfast really. And then I’ll get to work. You know, I work a couple hours a day, so I’ll get on calls with my team if it’s a workday, and then in the afternoon I might do a workout. I’ve been loving the class. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it. It’s like a somatic release exercise that’s very music driven.
I don’t know. I just love it. I’ve been doing it the past few months. It kind of reminds me of like the workout version of an activation. And then, yeah, I, I’ll have lunch. I might, you know, have like a salad for lunch or something. I don’t even know what I have for lunch. It’s always something different. And then make a beautiful dinner and, and hang out with my husband [00:45:00] and have a bath before bed.
And really try to limit screen time if it’s not necessary, because I know that that lowers my vibration. Significantly, and I have so many limits on my phone because I for a reason, I, I have an issue with no limits on phone ’cause I will get consumed and, and do things or mindlessly scroll too much. And it makes me feel like crap to be honest.
So yeah, I, I really just don’t. I go on my phone as much as I used to and I feel so good doing that. So I’ll read before bed. Oh my gosh. I’ll sound like a grandma, but I like to like needle point. I don’t know if you even know what that is. No. Is it like acupressure? No, no, no. Needle pointing is like basically.
Crocheting on a canvas. It’s a craft. I love that so much. It’s a craft. Yeah. So yeah, I love the grandma [00:46:00] life. And then I’ll watch maybe a nature documentary in bed with my husband and call it a night. I’m sure I’m missing so many things, but that’s really a boring, beautiful day. Or we’ll take out our boat on the weekend and go to a deserted island and have a packed lunch or you know, we do a lot of fun things like that too, but.
That’s a little insight into my life.
Melissa: It sounds amazing. Really? You sound so amazing. I have never been to The Bahamas. I want to go. It sounds absolutely beautiful. So thank you for sharing your day. I love hearing. About all the little things that people do. You know, the, the needle pointing, like all the little different things that light people up.
It’s just so beautiful and it’s also really inspiring. It’s like, oh, okay, maybe I’ll try that. Or, you know, oh, that reminded me of, you know, I used to sew so much and then I had my son and having two kids and time to sew. Like, it’s not my sewing season right now.
Mimi: Yeah, it’s, it’s a lot of effort. Like, I, I totally [00:47:00] get it needle pointing.
Something that’s like two inches by two inches takes like seven hours. So it’s, it’s more not something you necessarily can do, I think, with young kids. But yeah.
Melissa: Alright. I have three rapid fire questions for you now. Are you ready? I’m so ready. What is one thing we
Mimi: can do for our health today? Walk more walking.
I walk at least 10,000 steps a day, and I’m not diligently tracking it. I’m just naturally wanting to move more. Walking really reduces cortisol. It really helps you clear your head, extra brownie points if you can just not be like scrolling while walking. If you’re just walking, you can listen to music, an activation, a podcast, but just try not to look at a screen and a lot of us.
You know, have walking pads and stuff at home. So I’m seeing the screen thing. ’cause it’s like so many people will watch something while walking, but just try to walk without, with just looking out of a window if you’re on a treadmill or, or walking outside. You know, [00:48:00] just walking is, has really helped me with my stress levels and health in general?
Mm, yes. Yes, yes. Okay. What’s one thing we can do for more wealth in our life? Increase your internal thermostat when it comes to wealth. So think about your identity as like a thermostat on a, in a house, right? Your identity is the house. The thermostat is, is the fit that like it’s set at the temperature.
Let’s say your abundance is at a 70 degrees, okay? The second window opens and brings cool air, and that’s when the heater is gonna just go on automatically because the temperature is set at 70. Or the opposite is true. You know, if for some reason it gets hotter in there, the air conditioning will turn on.
So you need to first adjust your internal thermostat when it comes to your wealth. You know, back in the day, I used to be comfortable with, you know, just living paycheck to paycheck. That was my, my identity. I would never go into debt because that was my, my thermostat would be too low or the [00:49:00] temperature would be too low.
And I just never got into debt. But I would always be living paycheck to paycheck ’cause I was comfortable there. And then I had to internally change my identity with this reprogramming work that I teach and that I do. And then I slowly built my way up and you can get to a point where a certain amount of money.
Every month that you earn feels so normal to you that it would feel weird if you didn’t earn that amount. And then you’re naturally going to start finding ways to make that amount that month because it’s all about comfort, right? So it started with 5,000 a month, then 10,000 a month, then a hundred thousand a month, and so on.
And that’s the biggest thing is look at your internal thermostat first before changing, trying to change external things. I can tell you, oh, work this way. Or work that way. But really the biggest thing is your internal thermostat and how comfortable you are with certain amounts of money.
Melissa: Absolutely.
Absolutely. I love that so much. Okay, last one. What is one thing we can do for more love in our life?
Mimi: Stop trying to [00:50:00] change people. You know, just accept them for who they are and I think. You know, I, I, I’ve had to learn this just naturally in life. It’s like you can’t change other people. You can love them how they are and be a good example, you know, but you just have to accept people as they are, and you’re understand you’re not going to be able to change anyone.
So you become more loving and understanding when you stop trying to fit someone else into a box that you’ve created.
Melissa: Mm-hmm.
Mimi: Absolutely.
Melissa: Just focus on ourselves. Focus on being the best version of ourselves. Like if everybody just did that, the world will be such a different place.
Mimi: Yes,
Melissa: exactly. Absolutely.
Mimi, this has been so amazing. You are helping, you are serving so many people with your incredible work. And I just wanna thank you so much for coming on, for being so generous with your wisdom. I absolutely [00:51:00] love and adore everything that you are creating. So I wanna know how I and the listeners can give back to you today.
How can we serve you?
Mimi: Oh, that’s so sweet. Gosh, I just keep making, I think the more of us that keep focusing on the work that we do for ourselves, the world becomes a better place. So just trying to shift, I guess. The big ripple in life is if you’re in traffic and someone cuts you off, just try to think to yourself instead of getting angry and upset.
You know, that person must be in a rush to get to an important, you know, hospital visit because someone they love might be passing or something. Just trying to think of the best case scenario in every moment. You know, maybe if someone’s being rude to you on a customer service line, maybe they’re having an awful day, maybe they’re feeling really insecure because something just happened in their life.
So I think just like the big picture ripple effect, not just to help me, but just to help the world. Like that’s something I’m trying to work on. ’cause I’m not perfect with that. Sometimes when I’m in a grumpy mood. It’s not like I wanna be super social, but just being kinder [00:52:00] to people because we need more kindness in the world.
And then if anyone’s interested in activations or anything that I really said in, in today’s podcast, I have a book called Activate Your Future Self. It came out earlier this year with Hay House. I think it’s on sale on Amazon right now. And then obviously if you guys wanna try activations, we offer a two week free trial and a money back guarantee.
So go check that out. The best deal is always on our website activations.com. And actually we can, if you want, we can do a special discount link for your audience. Melissa, do you wanna do that? That would be incredible. So tell us, what do we get? Okay, great. I think it’s the biggest discount we offer, which is about.
Like 70% off a yearly subscription, I’m pretty sure. But yeah, it is. We could do like activations.com/melissa or something to make it really easy.
Melissa: That would be incredible. Thank you so much, and I’ve got the app on my phone and I’m so [00:53:00] excited to dive into it. You are just in incredible what you’ve created.
Is so amazing and I’m gonna link to everything, the app, your book, everything in the show notes. And don’t forget activations.com/melissa. But Mimi, this has been so amazing. Is there anything else that you wanna share or any last parting words of wisdom?
Mimi: I think we live in an age that is incredibly distracting and something that I’ve realized a lot recently is.
Being in a state of distraction is very numbing, and feeling alive is the opposite of numbing. Feeling alive is the biggest thing that I wanna experience in the world, and I’m sure everyone listening as well. So remembering that it’s important to remove distraction in your life, whether that is, you know, you living this repeat life where you are.[00:54:00]
Waking up at the same time, checking your phone, going to work, coming back home, watching TV while eating dinner, going to bed, like remembering that we don’t have much time in our day to be present. We don’t have much time in our day. Non distracted, right? So. Really, a lot of personal development can come just by being alone with your thoughts and not having these like distractions constantly everywhere.
So that’s one of the biggest things that I’ve really been thinking about deeply myself recently, is just having time to just sit around and think and be bored because amazing ideas come at that time and a lot of self-reflection comes at that time. A huge moment in my life when I grew very quickly.
It’s when I. Discovered my activations about eight years ago in my tiny studio apartment. I was alone a lot. I had no tv. I was alone a lot with my own thoughts, and I really embraced that phase and it really changed me. So that’s definitely a big piece.
Melissa: [00:55:00] Hmm. That was so beautiful. Well, you are so beautiful.
You’re such a big hearted, kind, loving, generous person, and it’s been such a pleasure to have you on the show. I’m so excited to add your activations to my daily routines. So thank you for being here. You’re always welcome on the show, and I’m so grateful.
