Julie, welcome to the show. I am so excited to have you here. But before we dive in, can you tell us what you had for breakfast this morning?

Julie: Oh, this is different. I had chia seed pudding with collagen and cacao nibs, and I had a green smoothie. Yes.

Melissa: Delicious. So good. So good. Now, can you tell us your origin story, like how did you get here doing this work that you do?

How did this all unfold for you? Take us back.

Julie: For me, I really, when I look back, you know, sometimes it’s like a tapestry, right? One side you’ve got the knots and it looks like what the heck is [00:03:00] going on. That’s how my life felt for a while. And then you turn it over later and you’re like, wow, that’s beautiful.

So for me, I. I really came by this work, honestly, I think my message came through from my mess, right? And so the mess for me, I struggled with addiction, specifically around food and sugar addiction and really had a hard time, Melissa, processing emotions and feelings as a high empath and recovering people pleaser and highly sensitive person.

  1. I just really did not learn the skills, how to process the feelings I didn’t like having. And so, you know, not feeling good enough. Like I grew up in a very, very competitive area outside the Northeast over near Harvard for those who know where that is, like a lot around intellectualism. And I, I just constantly felt like I didn’t compare in the way that I wanted to.

And Felt like not good enough and not all the [00:04:00] time, but enough where it chipped away at my self esteem. And for me using and abusing food, negative self talk, like you wouldn’t have known this looking at me, but that was going on. Like, you know, you see a duck and they’re like, you know, flowing through the water and then underneath they’re paddling and like crazy.

That’s what it felt like. I was constantly just really out of alignment with myself. And I had a moment where 21 years ago, I. You know, I was married at the time, good life, a job that I liked, I didn’t love, but I liked it. Like things were fine, right? Nothing was wrong. And I felt so not okay. And I really had this moment of like, do I continue living?

Like, I don’t know if I want to do life like this. I couldn’t bear feeling like, you know, I didn’t feel connected to myself. I didn’t feel connected to the truth of who I am. And so there was a day that I remember I just made a decision. You know, I heard this voice. I was [00:05:00] thinking, I really so sad. I mean, I was really thinking like I could just drive into this tree and it would be over.

And again, you wouldn’t know this, but I heard a small voice that said, Julie, this can change. And I found a support group. I found you know, not just therapy, but many other healing modalities that actually started to work. And I would say for me, it was like chipping the ice away. It was like excavating myself.

And that led me 10 years later from that point into a really tough time where I realized I liked the person I was married to, but it wasn’t the right fit. I had two young children. Like this was not An opportune time to have a wake up call. However, my intuition, my soul spoke to me and I could just feel that it was time to shift and to listen.

And I’d done so much self love work. So anyhow, that led to going back to school. I got a degree actually in health and wellness coaching. I got a master’s degree. I. Decided to leave my corporate day job [00:06:00] as a single mom at the time. I had a health breakdown with my thyroid. Like this was not my highlight reel.

However, this was a time I felt like I was finally listening to myself and really honoring myself and. Um, everything changed and you know, I started my business 10 years ago. I really get it with doing this work, this inner work, and that’s why I believe in this so much because I am literally in a different timeline and a different path than where I was and today you and I had talked about this earlier.

I’m living a life that is, it’s not perfect. It’s not ever going to be perfect, but it’s beautiful. It’s connected. It’s aligned. It feels like my me est me. I love that so much. Oh, it’s so beautiful. So tell me, what are you doing now? Yeah, so I took my experience as a coach. I had a psychology background and then I got this degree in coaching and I started teaching coaching over at Georgetown.

I worked with leaders and corporations and the government and the military and I really liked that and then [00:07:00] I really follow my inner voice and my inner voice said, write a book. So I wrote a book and then it said, Give a TED talk. So I gave a TED talk like in the way it happened. I, I didn’t know how to do that.

I just followed that instinct. There, there’s obviously the trusting and the taking action and all of those aspects, and then it said, start a podcast. So I started a podcast and. Right as 2020 happened, I woke up and my intuition said, Julie, it’s time to start a coaching certification where you can bring in more of the spiritual principles.

And maybe many are often not teaching that. And I didn’t know I was going to do that. I didn’t know I was going to do that. I was coaching, I was working with companies and doing all kinds of Different things that I really enjoyed. But the thing I said earlier, when I start to feel like something it’s great, but if it’s not a full F yes, or fully of filled with passion and a full a hundred percent, not a 97, I mean, a hundred percent.

I’m the kind of [00:08:00] person, unfortunately, I can’t do something anymore unless I am like full in. And so for me teaching people how to become coaches and I do still coach as well, but I love this and I, and I teach people how to touch, connect, trust their intuition and how to unlock it. That was one of the biggest gifts in my life.

It saved my life more than once. It’s geared, you know, it’s shown me the path and I believe it’s our superpower. I believe we all have batteries included and many of us have no idea how to use them. No. How do we use them? Great question. Well, first and foremost, you got to know you have them, right? I think of it like this.

We have trillions of cells in our body. Like you and I right now, we’re talking, our heart is beating. You and I are breathing. I mean, I didn’t do anything to make my heart beat or to breathe. Greater life force is doing that through me and with intuition, I think the first thing to understand is it’s not woo woo.

It’s not witchy. It’s actually [00:09:00] such a gift. It’s a gift that we all have and like any muscle, it takes time to develop it. It can for some of us, for some, you might already be like, I have it. I listen, I follow it. Good. That’s amazing. So what I see helps to develop it is number one, starting to be aware of it and actually think doing a little research.

This is what helped me. I started to look at my life. When did I have a sense, a gut feeling, a knowing that was not logical, that was not coming from my brain, my mind, that I sensed and felt and knew when did I listen to it and when did I not, and then what happened when I listened to it and what happened when I didn’t.

And I’m going to tell you, if you do your own little research, it’s really flipping powerful. I started to see. Oh my goodness. Life is very different when I listen and follow it. Very different, like magical, beautiful, not always easy, but absolutely aligned. And when [00:10:00] I didn’t listen, that’s where I got into a lot of my biggest challenges in life.

And I really believe the health situation that I had mirrored. Not listening and loving myself. I believe listening to yourself is an act of self love. I believe listening to your intuition is an act of self love. So you got to first be aware and I think doing a little research and then starting to notice what is your intuition?

How does she speak to you? Is it a sensation in your belly? A lot of people get gut feelings. Are you leaning in? Is it a warm tingling sensation? Is it a vision? There’s a lot of different ways we can talk about really cool ways to tap in. But first, I think doing a little research in the past and then starting to be aware, Oh, I just got this sensation or sense.

Like I should take a right instead of a left while I’m driving. And there’s no reason. So for those of us who are, you know, recovery of left brain overuse. This is not your left brain, this is gonna come, and it literally does not come, it comes from the right hemisphere, it really [00:11:00] does. From that place of not the common sense linear thinking, it comes from information from the field around us and within us.

Yes, absolutely.

Melissa: I’m sure so many people listening can relate to that feeling. You know, someone might have said to you, why did you book the trip to Bali? You’re like, I don’t know, I just had to go, I just had to book it. Or why did you do this? You’re like, I don’t know, I just had to, like something just came over me.

So I know everyone listening could probably relate to at least one of those situations where that’s happened in their life and maybe multiple. It’s so powerful. So What can we do to strengthen that intuition, that feeling? Like how can we strengthen it so that that becomes the guiding force in our life and not the fear, not our head.

We want that intuition to be in the driver’s seat.

Julie: Beautiful. So I think of it like this, you know, we, are all made of energy as we know. And so to be a tuning fork, to be a [00:12:00] receiver of this information that literally is in each of us, you’ve got to have to use a better metaphor. You’ve got to have the fertile soil, right?

So if you’re planting seeds in soil, that’s not tilled, that’s not healthy. You’re not going to get much. And how to do that. It’s not sexy and it’s life changing. And I really believe in getting quiet and meditation and mindfulness daily. Okay. Like you every day. And this is not where I started. When I did my master’s degree, I studied mind, body science.

We had to meditate. I couldn’t sit still for 30 seconds. My professor would put me aside. She’s like, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody who can’t sit still like this. And I said, I just feel like I need to do something. And this was like 13 years ago. It was really hard for me. And she said, Julie, just start with 30 seconds.

And then it was a minute and then two minutes. So today, 15 to 20 minutes. You know, minimum, of course, there’s the days where I don’t have time and it’s five minutes. But every day, mindfulness, breathing, [00:13:00] presence, meditation, there’s just too much science out there that shows, it changes our, your nervous system.

It changes the way neurons fire together. It changes our ability to shape and shift beliefs. It changes our receptivity, our literal antenna. I also find the ideas that come to me often when I wake up, which is when we’re in that theta, you know, dream state, but also after we meditate. So one of the most important things you can do is make space for that.

Yoga is wonderful. Breath work is wonderful. I don’t know if anything supersedes meditation. It just clears the pathway.

Melissa: I totally agree. Totally agree. Now, so many entrepreneurs, they struggle with balancing the intuition and business strategy. So, how do you integrate these two aspects in your decision making process to ensure that both your personal and business life are succeeding?

Julie: Okay. So, I’m going to say [00:14:00] something that’s a little counterculture, and maybe that will be interesting. This is a beautiful, powerful question, and I’ve actually danced with this one for the last decade plus, because You know, there’s the planning and strategy. I like to think of it as, you know, the visualization and.

Actually, for me, it’s the reverse. If anyone is into Abraham Hicks, you get into the vortex, you get into a place of connection. I really don’t want to plan or strategize anything anymore until I have connected in to the greater all loving presence, whatever you call that, God, higher power, the divine. I personally, this is what works for me, Melissa, is I think of myself as an employer of the divine.

I think of God or whatever you call this higher power as my employer and as my guide and as my director. And so for me, when I remember to do this, like to connect in first, and I like to come from a [00:15:00] different place of asking, how do you want to use me? You know, if you think of the prayer, I think it’s the prayer for St.

Francis and it talks about, Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. So that I just say like, use me as an instrument, you know, I’m here. I’m willing. I’m listening. I’m open. Please use me, use my mouth, use my ears, use my, my eyes, use my hands, use my every use my gifts. Like, I don’t always know the big picture.

I can only see as a human being. We have eyes that see in front of us. We don’t have eyes that see 360, but there is a greater power that does. And so for me, doing that connection first is the most important thing because then what I notice, I get ideas, I get inspiration, I get strategy. It doesn’t always come as methodically as I would like, but it does come and It comes in a way where it’s, Oh yes, and I feel it.

And then now let me take that idea and go a little left brain. Okay, let’s reverse engineer it. And, but I [00:16:00] don’t want to get that strategy for me. What works is to have the connection to the greater divine force first.

Melissa: 100%. It’s so important. So are there any other impactful daily habits or routines that you’ve implemented as a CEO to maintain peak performance and stay aligned with your vision and your intuition for success?

Julie: Yeah, that’s a great question. So we all have different energy, right? And we all have different ways of wanting to express our energy. And one thing I’ve learned about myself now at almost 50, which is like hard to believe for myself, but first of all, starting every day, I take way longer than I thought. I used to think, Oh, I’m 10 minutes.

No, I take two and a half hours. Between getting up and meditating and prayer and, I actually use tapping and essential oils. For me, learning how to express my emotions and be with them is super important as well as I like to call in the divine right away. I just like that feeling of, [00:17:00] okay, we’re doing this together.

So that practice, I have a special journal, you know, of just inspirational readings. I’ll always do a page of, of that. And then I try to do some sort of movement, yoga, walking, something. I also try to get into nature at least to get some sort of, you know, even if it’s raining, like get rain on my side. It doesn’t matter.

Just get outside. Those are like my energy hygiene, I would say. And I used to underestimate it, right? Like, no, no, no, you got to get started. You got to get right in. No, I don’t get into my emails. until I’ve done that. I don’t want anyone to hear from me on email until I have, you know, be highly meditated.

Those are some of the energetic hygiene mindfulness tools that I use. I do love for me personally, I am old school with, I like writing things out. I really do handwriting old school. Like I have my little to do list, but I’ll tell you it’s very old school. I use a new one each week and I try [00:18:00] to do the thing I want to do least first.

So for me, I’m not as much a procrastinator. I’m actually more on the workaholic side of things. I love what I’m doing and it’s hard for me to stop. It goes back to some of the addiction behaviors sometimes, and this could be for anyone. It’s just hard to stop when I’m in the flow. So what I try to do is actually give myself breaks.

And I think it’s really important. Breaks to breathe, breaks to move around. I might put my favorite inspirational song. I might call my best friend since I was five years old. Go get a snack, walk outside. I have learned that taking little like chunks of breaks. So work 90 minutes, take a quick break.

Sometimes I’ll work three hours, take a quick break. But my old habit of doing like six hours at a time, it’s not good for the brain. It’s not good for our body. So for me taking breaks here and there, breath breaks. You know, calling people snacks, that kind of thing really works. And then the other thing for me is eating my [00:19:00] biggest meal in the early evening, late afternoon and giving myself time for digestion and time to unwind at night.

That is a big thing for me. And sometimes it’s hard to do with kids, with their schedule. And I try to do something really kind for myself, even if it’s sitting in my sauna and doing a little like cold plunge or cold shower, or even. Chilling out and watching, I love this guy Amari who has the school of chocolate and he shows how to make chocolate things.

And I’m like, you know what? It doesn’t mean anything. It’s so fun. And like, I feel like I’m in this creative fun zone. So I try to give myself some fun every day, like a dose of fun. I think that’s important.

Melissa: I love all of these so much. And I love that, you know, what makes you thrive? Like those little things like watching that show and It’s so important because so many people, especially as a working mum, we can get so caught up in doing everything for our children that we forget to do things for ourselves that fill us up.

And we [00:20:00] even forget what they are. Like we can go, I don’t even know what I like in this season of my life. Like I don’t even know what makes me feel good anymore. And so I encourage everybody to create a self love menu, which is like 10 things that they really love that really fill them up, and you stick that on your fridge and you do one thing from that menu every single day, they’re the fun things, they’re the things that just fill you up.

So I love that you know exactly what fills you up. And you do those each day. I just love it so much. It’s just so important because we can get so caught up in mumming and business and all the hats that we wear, but like, what about filling ourselves up? Because when we’re full, we then show up as the best version of ourselves, as the best partner, the best boss, the best mother that we can be, but we have to fill ourselves up first.

Julie: Oh my gosh, 100%. I think reframing this whole fear of selfishness, it’s the opposite. You cannot give, like you just said, you have to give from a place of overflow, of being [00:21:00] filled. Actually, one of my most favorite things to do, and I, I now use this. An intuitive way, but is different kinds of Oracle decks. I love them.

I have my own deck as well, but playing with different decks of cards that have, you know, whether it’s, I don’t know, there’s ones with unicorns or animal spirit or intention cards or Gabby Bernstein has her cards and Louise Hay has her card. So that’s really fun and I can travel with them. So it doesn’t have to be expensive.

And it can be something that’s like really simple. Like I keep essential oils all the time for me. It’s just fun to smell. And like, I love tactile things.

Melissa: Absolutely. And some of them are just like going outside and these are free things, you know, it’s like just do the things, like discover what they are for you and then do them each day.

I love that so much. Now in your experience mentoring other business owners and business leaders, what are some of the most common mindset shifts that are necessary for [00:22:00] moving from a place of struggle to one of thriving in both their business and in life? Okay.

Julie: So I kind of alluded to it earlier, and I think this is a really important question.

There’s not just one, but the one that is coming to me to talk about that I feel is really important is so many times business owners, new business owners, there’s this fear of being seen, of putting yourself out there. And it’s understood as humans, we want to be liked, right? It can feel scary to put yourself out there.

What if people don’t like me? They reject me. They think I’m being salesy. All these different things. What I have found to be one of the best mindset shifts about that, and it’s kind of what I was alluding to, is shifting the perspective from the fear of being seen to really connecting in, why are you doing this work?

So going to your why, going to the passion, I think of it as like the fire in your heart, in your belly, right? Like [00:23:00] the fire in your belly, that’s like, you know, for me, having been somebody that literally almost ended my life and then work to the coach to change my life. That’s what happened. This work is life changing.

It’s healing. I’m obsessed forevermore. And I know that it doesn’t go away. It’s there every day, every now and then I have to remind myself, oh, that’s why I’m doing this. So getting really clear, why is this so important to you? And then I would ask something different. In addition, I would ask not only why is it important to you, Why is it important to the people you’re here to serve?

And even more importantly, why is it important for the world? When you ask these purpose questions, what happens is you drop out of fear and reptilian brain and you move into the heart. And we know that you cannot be in fear and in the heart at the same time. You can’t, you can only be in one or the other.

So by doing that, you’re dropping into your heart, you’re dropping into purpose. And I have found this is, I mean, honestly, this is like my secret is how [00:24:00] have I done many of the things that I’ve done that I’m scared to do? I truly dropped into my heart and then tried to get outside of myself and said, you know what?

It’s not even about me. If they care about me, that’s about them. But I’m doing this as an emissary to. the greater good for consciousness, for humanity. I, I’m here in this time, anyone listening, I am sure of it because like attracts like. If you’re here listening, you have big things to do. I just know that.

And so going to your why, going to purpose, going to your heart, you cannot steer wrong there. You cannot get it wrong.

Melissa: Yeah. I love that so much. I teach this inside SheLaunch, like know your why you have to know why you are doing this. Why do you want the business? Why do you want that income? There’s a whole module on it because it’s so important to know that.

And like you said, you know, I see a lot of women who really struggle with that fear of being seen and putting themselves out there. But when you connect with that Y, that dissipates. And also, we [00:25:00] have to remember our intention. What are people going to think of us? And what’s so and so down the road going to think?

And if I talk about money, or if I talk about this. At the end of the day, you know your why and you know your intention behind your sharing. And that is the most important thing. You know, like when I go into my head and I think, Oh, what’s so and so gonna think? It doesn’t actually matter because I know my why and I know my intention behind sharing this and that is to help women.

And I can put my head on my pillow at night, know that my intention was pure and that’s all that matters. And so I just want everyone listening to remember that, like know your why and your intention. And also people can feel your intention. Like everything is energy. Everything in this world is energy and made up of energy.

People can feel your intention. They can feel if it’s pure, they can feel if it’s sleazy and salesy and [00:26:00] slimy. They can feel it. I talk about energetics of business and energetics of marketing inside SheLaunch as well. It’s so important that our energy is in alignment and not desperate energy or not icky energy, you know?

So I think that’s really important as well. Accompanying your why, you need to check in with your energy and your intention behind why you are sharing.

Julie: Beautiful. Oh, yeah. We’re, like, so aligned. Just this idea, you know, the values, I think what you’re saying is high integrity and authenticity. You know that.

So. When you come from that place who your being speaks louder, you cannot fake energy. And it doesn’t matter. I love what you were saying, Lissa. Everything is energy. You can’t fake it. So if you’re coming from a place of like, what can I get? And how am I going to get this? It’s fine to have goals and aspirations and want to have beautiful clients to work with.

That is a very different energy. Then coming from a place of wanting to get something over someone [00:27:00] else or whatever that other energy might be and people can feel it, we can feel it, we can feel it on email, we can feel it over the internet, we can feel it everywhere. And in the same vein, we can feel it when there’s authenticity and integrity and heart and we know this without even our mind or brain getting into it, we feel it and sense it.

I think that purpose, that why, the other piece that I, that I know is so important as well is having this faith component. I love this quote. I might have shared it earlier, but it’s by Rumi and it’s what you’re seeking is seeking you. And I use that every day. I really, I sink into it and I think, okay, there’s a greater plan.

I am not in charge of it. I am in charge of showing up. I am in charge of doing what I can do. My best, I can tap into this greater plan and trust if someone’s not my client, that’s okay. And that is all right. It might be a better client for you or someone else. And there’s plenty to go [00:28:00] around. I think that faith muscle is huge.

It’s something I know for me that I really work to strengthen every day. Like I go to the gym for my faith muscle every day because it takes courage, I think, to have faith in this kind of work.

Melissa: 100 percent and trusting that there is enough to go around. That’s one thing, like I don’t chase clients because I want people that want to be there that are self led, that are self motivated, that want to be in my program.

I am not the type of person that’s like constantly like following up and like chasing up people because it’s all energy. Like, it’s so important that we tune in with the energy. Ends. I just think there’s so many amazing people out there, and if they’re not gonna work with you, then that’s all good. We’ve got to have that abundant mindset.

There is enough to go around. And if you don’t feel like that, that’s a place that you need to look. Amen to that. Yes. What advice would you [00:29:00] give to entrepreneurs who not only want to build a successful business, but also lead a fulfilling life?

Julie: Well, I think to understand first of all, that we’re multidimensional, you know, sometimes I think we can think of ourselves, okay, I’m here at work and then I’m this way with my family and then with my friends, like actually you’re a dynamic multidimensional whole person, you know, an integrative perspective.

is one I know I was trained in also with the health and wellness coaching background, but also what I’ve seen leads to fulfillment and frankly honors your wholeness. So I don’t think there is such a thing as work life balance. I think it’s more about different seasons. And flowing and finding harmony that’s going to work and it’s going to look really different.

Like you said, your meditation, your morning routine might be 30 minutes right now because you have a three year old and a baby on the way. That was [00:30:00] me, you know, now my kids 16 and 18, it’s a little different. They’re driving themselves to school, hallelujah, by the way, I’ve been kind of waiting for this day.

So for me, you know, I can choose to start a little bit later and give myself, but so, you know, really honoring, I think it’s honoring what season we’re in, honoring our energy. Really getting that to have a fulfilling life. It is not all in one bucket, at least not in my experience. And that means time with people you love, time for fun, time off, time with yourself, time to play, and there can be micro moments in the day of this.

And then also making sure you’ve got. enough times during the year, whether it’s a beautiful, luxurious vacation or a beautiful chill staycation. Doesn’t matter as a beginning entrepreneur, it may not be as easy where with young kids to get out and do the big vacation, staycation, go to the nature reserves, go to the national parks, [00:31:00] make it so that you’re getting out, you’re getting around, you’re getting in nature.

But I think to look at ourselves as a whole beings, mind, body, spirit. So how are you tending to your mind? How are you tending to your body temple? How are you tending to your spirit, your soul, whatever that looks like for you. And we could dissect that deeper, right? So your body, how are you nourishing yourself with foods, with water, with maybe even supplements these days because our soil needs a little love.

Whatever that looks like, you know, maybe for me that was getting a infrared sauna. I got a solo sauna. It is so cute. To take care of myself. It could be mentally, maybe it’s having more support, a support group, friends that are on, you know, on standby, therapist, an energy worker, like really giving yourself what you need mentally and emotionally.

And then what do you need spiritually for sustenance? Maybe that’s religion. Maybe that’s a little bit of religion and spiritual. Like we’re all different. There’s no one right plan. It’s going [00:32:00] to be the one that works for you. Okay. I do think though, this is important and can get overlooked, especially when you’re starting a business.

I’ll share really quick when I started my business. So I left a corporate day job, I had benefits, decent salary, two kids, single mom, everyone around me was like, bless you, Julie, you’re going to do great. But wow, that’s kind of all, you know, it’s kind of courageous. What are you doing? And I knew intuitively it was time to move on.

And the first day I. made a decision to go to this full like spa that does, you know, your rubs of your body and like salt caves. And I said, I want to tell my psyche and myself that taking time to relax and to rejuvenate myself is so important. And so my first day of my business. It was a day like that.

And I remember thinking, wow, that is so cool that I could do that. Right. And it wasn’t, I didn’t have a huge fund saved. I just knew that to take care of myself. So it’s not perfect, but we can do the best we can and taking care of yourself. Mind, body, spirit. [00:33:00] It’s your insurance plan. It really is.

Melissa: One hundred percent.

The more we take care of ourselves, the more we can show up to our children, to our work, to our partners, to our friends. It’s so important. Yet often for working mommas especially, it’s the thing that gets pushed to the very bottom of our list when it should be right up the top. Because yeah, it’s just so important.

It’s everything. I think especially when you have kids, it’s like even more important that you’re filling yourself up. So, I would love to know if you had a magic wand and you could put one book in the school curriculum of every high school around the world. What is the first book that comes to mind?

Julie: Oh my gosh.

If you could have just seen what happened in my brain. So I am obsessed with reading and books. I love books so much. And I’ve read many, many, many, many, many books. And I literally saw like, wow, [00:34:00] there’s just so many books floating in my mind. But actually it’s the book that helped me the most in my journey of self love and self discovery.

It is The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I have done retreat with her. I love her. She is like, Oh God, I could cry thinking of her. She’s really, she lives what she talks and writes. And that book, that changed my life. It got me to really not just love and accept myself, but also to honor my gifts, my skills.

And of course, as you know, you do that for yourself, you can do that for others. And she has an amazing. Writing style and activities. And I would say her book.

Melissa: Yes, it is a game changer. If you’ve never done it, it is because it’s like a workbook. I highly recommend it was one of the first books I ever did on my spiritual journey.

So back in 2000 and. 10 or 11, I think I did it [00:35:00] and it was such a game changer, but I haven’t revisited it since. So this is a nice little reminder for me to kind of pick it back up and do it again. It’s a game changer. It’s beautiful. My husband did it a couple of years ago and he loved it as well. Such a game changer.

So I’ll link to that in the show notes. Awesome book.

Julie: So good. She’s very real. She’s lived and breathed this and the same thing for me, Melissa. It was the first book in my Excavation my spiritual journey 21 years ago crazy. It changed my life. And that’s why right away I was like, yep, I’ve got a and then to connect with her and meet her.

She’s just she’s a special one

Melissa: beautiful What are you working on within yourself at the moment?

Julie: Oh my gosh, depends what day you ask me this, but no, I heard my inner monologue say we’re always working on something. Right now, two things. I’m going to just be super vulnerable, I mean I always am, but I’m just going to go like to the deep end of the pool here.

I am working on, so I’ve found tapping to be [00:36:00] very helpful, I’m very verbal, I’m a verbal processor, and learning how to really. be with feelings when they come up and how to like move through them. And so I have very loving parents and they really did not had a parent. So I was kind of the parent to them.

And so moving through that and honoring, you know, I did a lot of emotional caretaking, again, love my parents. So it’s being able to feel those feelings that I was not able to feel because I felt like if I say that, that means I don’t love them and I do, they’ve been loving. So it’s really moving through feelings and using tapping and oils around this kind of honoring that there’s a part of me that felt like I wasn’t parented emotionally.

And yeah, being with that. And I would just say using these same principles, I have so many other different tools, but using the tapping. And for me, it’s physical and it’s somatic and it helps [00:37:00] me. So if I’m frustrated with, I don’t know, my daughter got a little bit. this doesn’t happen often, but maybe she just lost it a little bit and I’m like, don’t like how that feels.

Like I just learning to be with it and not trying to push it away or eat over it or do anything just to let it move through my body to rinse through. So I would say that is definitely what’s there for me.

Melissa: Beautiful. I love it. What’s your definition of success and what do you attribute your success to?

Success

Julie: for me is having A desire, a passion, and it’s seeing it play itself out in the world. To me, that looks like impact. That looks like service. That looks like helping somebody. Often that’s paid. Sometimes it’s not. For me, being successful is, you know, on the macro level, because what’s so important to me is helping.

Especially women, men too, but especially women to [00:38:00] really trust their inner guidance. I think it’s the path of self love and to lift their own vision of themselves and their own consciousness. I do think that would make a huge difference in our planet. And so when I get a note back, it could be a comment on YouTube, it could be an email, it could be one of my students, my graduates who said, Julie, that like learning this sacred coach approach or practicing coaching or having a client where it really worked or what we learned today.

Like, I feel like a different person when I hear stuff like that. I mean, that is, there’s, it is so profound how amazing that feels. I feel like I am doing God’s work, honestly. I, I like to be used as an instrument. I really do. That’s why I’m here. I think that’s why we’re all here for different reasons. And success for me is that seeing, hearing, getting that sense that I’ve been used in [00:39:00] that way.

Melissa: Beautiful. I love that so much. You have shared a little bit about your routine, but can you dive a little bit deeper? Talk us through a quote unquote typical day in your life. I know no two days are ever the same, but talk us through a typical day in your life, all your little routines and rituals, everything you do.

Julie: All right, here we go. Get your pen and paper now. So for me, I think as I said earlier, typically waking up, I try to just go right into either, I do different meditations, silent, transcendental, or there’s a hemisync that syncs both hemispheres of the brain, something 15 to 20 minutes, I try to do that right away.

Prayer, tapping, journaling, reading inspirational readings, and then sometimes a little visualization, that’s kind of the, the morning, the beginning of it. I do have part of my routine, so I’m on a really intense and wonderful healing journey. I’ve been healing the thyroid condition [00:40:00] that I was, you know, the diagnosis I had 12 years ago now and found somebody actually through my podcast, she reached out to me who heals her thyroid using this protocol.

It is no joke, Melissa, because it’s, it’s a 60 ounce juice smoothie. That includes a 23 ounce bag of mixed organic greens. So if you can imagine a bag the size of like, bigger than my head, I use almost a whole bag of that a day plus flax seeds. I’ve, I’ve actually interviewed Dr. Brooke Goldner, it’s, it’s her whole protocol.

I mean, it’s free on her site. It’s really incredible. It’s a, it’s a commitment. I do it every day, 50 to 60 ounces of it. Today I did about 45 because I just couldn’t do any more. But. flaxseed, a whole lemon, strawberries, and a little banana and water, blend it for two minutes. And I’m trying to drink that as much as I can.

That is every day when I’ve traveled, I bring my Vitamix. So that’s a huge part of my routine right now. As my numbers go to [00:41:00] normal, eventually I won’t have to do 60 ounces, but that is hands down really important to me. And with that, I have supplements and certain vitamins I take with that. Usually for me, it’s either walking right outside or I’ll walk outside and just look at the sun and try to say a little, like, I say a prayer.

I like to think about it just flushing my cells, all of my trillions of cells. And then typically yoga. I do try to get to yoga about Most days, or I’ll do it myself. I found it to be very helpful with the breath. So that’s a morning routine. That’s quite a routine. Not every day can I do it in that amount of time, you know, cause it can take two to three hours this morning.

I, I still teach for fun one yoga class a week. I just love it. I do it as my, like, give back my tithing. I love, love, love yoga. So for me, that’s part of the routine. And then I do typically make food. The beginning of the week. So I do a lot of raw, whole foods. I try not to do a lot of [00:42:00] packaged things as I’m healing.

I am really honoring my body temple. As someone who struggled with sugar addiction, I am very mindful, very minimal sugar to none. So, you know, fruit is fine, but I just, that means you have to be prepared. Like I’m food shopping two to three times a week. and just knowing that. And that’s the season I’m in right now.

That’s the season I’ve decided this is getting healed. And I know people that have, and it is, and I can see it. So that’s a big focus for me. And that’s takes a lot of energy. It does. The routine at the end of the day, I try to use my, I have an infrared sauna and I also do cold showers. I’ve been doing it for a year.

I’ve trained myself. I never thought I could do this, but I try to do a five minute cold shower every day if I can, whether I do a sauna or not. And I do a lot of tapping and just really kind affirmations while I’m in there because it’s, it’s freezing. Now I’m used to it. And then with bed, I, often do Reiki on myself [00:43:00] when I go to bed.

So I always put my hands on my heart and I just try to go through the day and acknowledge where I’m grateful. And sometimes I’ll journal, but oftentimes hands on my heart. And you know, my husband and I will often, we both do A Course in Miracles together. So we’ll often listen to a lesson. And I’ll just kind of go through my day and feel grateful and feel grateful for my body and ask the angels to guide me in my sleep and tell me what I need to know the next morning.

I really love bringing in this higher guidance. And so the morning and the nighttime, I really love like starting the day and sealing the day with just, okay. I did the best I could and where I didn’t, I can do better tomorrow. So that’s a little bit of my routine.

Melissa: Oh, I love it. So delicious. So beautiful. I love all of those things.

Just so, so, so nice. And I love that your partner’s on board as well, doing A Course in Miracles and things like that. It’s so beautiful. So helpful when your partner is on the same page. [00:44:00] Yes, yes, yes, definitely. Big important piece for me. So important. Okay. I have three rapid fire questions for you now. Are you ready?

I’m ready. Bring it. Let’s do it. What is one thing we can do today for our health?

Julie: Get enough water and enough rest.

Melissa: What is one thing we can do for our wealth? Mmm. Save and create a prudent reserve. And what is one thing we can do for more love in our life?

Julie: Mmm. Okay. I’m like, oh my God, I’m just flattered.

I’m going to say a couple of things. Smile at other people from your heart. Smile from your heart and do the same to yourself and drop down, drop the 18 inches down from your head to your heart. If you’re seeing something and you’re judging it, you’re not forgiving, literally hand on your heart and ask, how can I see this from my heart?

You’re, it’s a very different answer. This has been one of the biggest game changers for me.

Melissa: [00:45:00] So beautiful. I love that question. How can I see this from my heart? Beautiful question. Is there anything else that you want to share with us or any last parting words of wisdom?

Julie: You know, I love the work you’re doing, Melissa, and I think this idea that we even question our worthiness, I would love it for all of us included where that never comes up into the conversation again and to know like, you know, what is it?

One in 14 billion trillion chances of being born. I mean, the, the chances of you and I being here is really remarkable. There’s something divine going on with each of us that Even if our brain tells us crazy crap, our ego, like, drop down in your heart, please remember who you are, you are here, you are loved, you are here for a reason, and worthiness is something that I [00:46:00] think hopefully is someday off the table, it’s a given.

And that we can see that in ourselves, see that in others, and rather than going to a place of fear or intimidation or feeling less than, that we can really support one another and rise up and, and say, you know what, I know that there’s enough out there and I know that you’re here for a reason and I am and we all are and celebrate that.

So to me, dropping in your heart, that’s the answer. When in doubt, go to your heart. It will absolutely show you the way that is out of fear. And I think we can all go to fear. I think we can all go to unworthiness and doubt and heart and intuition, all the things we’ve talked about, you know, there is a way out of that.

And there’s a way in to a place that is going to have you feel like you are aligned and empowered and sovereign. And full of efficacy and that’s what I believe we’re, you know, made in the image of this beautiful divine [00:47:00] creator. So don’t forget who you are.

Melissa: Beautifully said. I love that. Thank you so much.

You are helping, you are serving, you are supporting so many people with the work that you do. How can I and the listeners give back to you today?

Julie: Oh, that is such a great question. I’m like, I don’t know. Let me think about that. I mean, I just would say, first of all, love, love, love being here. And if anybody is looking to heighten their intuition or become trained as a intuitive life designer, life coach, To come check out what I’m doing, or even if not, just say, hi, like if something touched you, I’d love to know, just drop me an email, go to my website, Julie Riesler.

com. Let me know. I just, I love humans. I think we’re all related and I just pray that this touches someone in the way that’s going to make an impact. And Melissa, thank you. I love the work you’re doing. I think you’re such a beautiful soul and I’m grateful to be. One of your guests to be here. Thank you so much.

And [00:48:00] just

Melissa: before we go, what’s your human design? Yeah,

Julie: I’m a manifesting generator.

Melissa: I thought so. I’m a generator. We love humans. We love people. It’s no mistake that I am in the work that I do with people. Cause. It’s part of our design. So I love that. You are such a light, you are such a beautiful person inside and out and you’re helping so many people.
