Are you ready? Beautiful.
Did you know that hitting the gym or taking a walk can [00:01:00] skyrocket your business success? Sounds a bit far fetched, right? But trust me, it is not. The Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine published a study showing that workers who exercised regularly had 72 percent fewer instances of job related stress and were more productive.
Exercise increases overall energy levels, helping you stay focused and driven throughout the day. And a Stanford study found that walking boosts creative inspiration. They found that walking increases creative output by an average of 60 percent, my friends. Now, this can be particularly beneficial for entrepreneurs who need to constantly innovate and think outside the box and be creative like I do.
So today I’m diving into how physical fitness is not just good for your body, but it’s also a powerful fuel for your business. Now whether you are a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting out, understanding this connection can be a game changer. So let’s break it [00:02:00] down. How success fuels your business success.
Now, the link between regular exercise and business success is strong. Now, here are five ways that a thriving fitness routine can lead to a thriving business. And you might want to write these ones down. Okay. Number one, exercise turns stress into your superpower. So running a business can feel like a rollercoaster at times, but exercise helps you navigate those challenges like a pro.
Studies including one published in the Journal of Health Psychology shows that regular exercise significantly lowers stress hormone like cortisol, while elevating endorphin levels known as the feel good hormone. Do we all want a little bit more of that feel good hormone? Yes, please. Now, this hormonal balance leads to enhanced mental clarity and calmness.
Which is essential when facing crucial business decisions. So by using exercise to reduce [00:03:00] stress, you’re not just safeguarding your mental health, you’re also setting the stage for clearer, more strategic thinking, which is a must for any successful entrepreneur. It makes sense, right? So that’s the first one.
Exercise turns stress into your superpower. All right, number two. There’s no better way to build discipline and resilience. Now, every time you push yourself in your workouts, it’s more than just physical training. It’s also increasing your discipline and your resilience. So think about it like this. Every time you ride through that burn in a spin class, or you wake up extra early to do your workout, or you tack on the extra 15 minutes to your run or your walk, you’re not just building muscles, you are strengthening your willpower and your mindset, my friend.
This is the kind of mental toughness that separates dreamers from doers in the business world. And it can be your most powerful [00:04:00] secret weapon. When times get tough and others might give up, you’ll be able to switch into a higher gear and reach for those untapped energy reserves. Because you’ve trained for it.
Every day. One step at a time. Okay? So that’s the second one. There is no better way to build discipline and resilience. Okay, let’s move to number three. It propels your productivity, my friend. So, I have a question for you. Do you often feel too tired to focus on important tasks? Regular physical activity is the key to boosting your energy levels.
Now according to research from the University of Georgia, even low intensity exercise can lead to a 20 percent energy boost, surpassing the effects of stimulations like caffeine, my friend. So this increase in energy can dramatically enhance your productivity, allowing you to tackle work projects with renewed vigor and achieve greater output, not to mention better [00:05:00] results.
Okay? So I’ve got a little hot tip for you. The next time you feel an energy slump coming on, instead of reaching for The coffee or the sugar, try a brisk walk around the block, or even just some gentle yoga or star jumps in your lounge room or your office, whatever you can do, do it. Now you will feel that boost within a matter of minutes.
And unlike the sugar or the caffeine, this natural high won’t have you crashing and burning 30 minutes later. Okay. So that is number three. It propels your productivity. Number four, networking on the move. Now, believe it or not, your exercise time can also double as networking time. Fitness classes, running clubs, yoga studios, Pilates classes, and even your local gym are hotspots for meeting like minded individuals.
Now, these connections can lead to all sorts of things like business opportunities, creative [00:06:00] collaborations and brand exposure. But even just the solidarity of meeting people who get the unique challenges of entrepreneurship make it well worth the effort of leaving the house. I know for me, whenever I leave the house to go do a workout.
I feel a million times better. It’s the connection with people. It’s being in that environment. I love it. I absolutely love it. I’ve got another little hot tip for you guys. Exercise is a great way to make new friends, not just business besties. So if you find it challenging to meet like minded people, I want you to sign up to your local gym or yoga or pilates studio and make the effort to chat with the regulars and the teachers at the beginning and the end of each class.
I’ve met some of my dearest friends through yoga and pilates and dance classes and this really is a great life hack that you should try ASAP. Okay. So that is number four, networking on the move. [00:07:00] So number five, the fifth surprising way that exercise fuels your business success. It’s awakens your creative genius.
So Nick gets his best ideas while out walking. Now he walks pretty much every day without his phone. He just goes by himself, has his thoughts and he loves it. Now the effect on his creativity is so insane that I sometimes tease him and say, babe, please. No more walks. We are still working on your last batch of ideas.
Like he will literally come home and he’s got 15 new ideas that we’re implementing into the business. He’s got new business ideas. And I’m like, whoa, babe, you need to stop walking. No, just kidding. Jokes aside, exercise is like rocket fuel for your creativity, especially walks in nature. For me, walking in the bush or along the coast.
I feel so creative. I have all my best ideas drop in. It is amazing. [00:08:00] And when Nick and I go together and we don’t take our phone, boom, the creativity is so high. And I truly believe that when you can do this outside, it’s like adding Einstein level lighter fuel to your creative fire. Numerous studies have backed this up, including one from Stanford University, which found that walking boosts creative output.
By a whopping 60 percent my friend. So if you ever have writer’s block or you feel like you need that creative boost, go for a walk outside. Walking boosts your creative output by a whopping 60%. If that’s not enough motivation to get you outside walking, I don’t know what is. So, my friend, the next time you need to solve a problem, come up with a new offer, or tap into your inner muse, try going for a walk, okay?
Who knows what brilliant ideas that you will stride into. And I just wanted to highlight this again because [00:09:00] Before I was recording this, Nick was like, don’t forget to mention this. His formula to awaken his creative genius is so simple. Number one, go for a walk, ideally in nature. Number two, don’t take your phone.
See? Very simple. But the impact on his creativity and when I do this is sky high, okay? So, the bottom line, my friends, is physical fitness isn’t just about getting into shape. It’s not just about your physical body, it’s about shaping your destiny. If you struggle to prioritize exercise amongst all the other commitments that you have, this is your permission slip to carve out time without guilt.
Create the space in your day. To move, get up earlier before the kids get up so you can move or quit watching hours of TV in the evening so you can move. Do whatever you’ve got to do to add this into your day and life because you will feel the difference. And because now you [00:10:00] know the truth. Every run, every pulse, every yoga pose, every Pilates class, every walk isn’t just about raising your heart rate, which is very good for you.
It’s also about raising up the best. most disciplined and creative version of you. The prescription is very simple, my friend. Find the type of exercise that you love and enjoy. Move your buns as often as you possibly can, ideally every single day, and watch as your business and life transform with every workout.
Every single workout. I’m so excited for you to move your body every single day. And I hope you got a lot out of this episode.
