Hey, beautiful. Welcome back to the show. I’m so excited about this episode because I absolutely love checking in [00:01:00] and re evaluating and doing a reset on my goals regularly. I usually do this every quarter, but sometimes I do it again at the start of each month. I just do it when I feel like I need it. So wherever you’re at right now, now is a perfect time to do a goals reset, a re evaluation and a check in.
Okay? But before we dive in, I have a question for you. How have your goals been going? Now, if your answer is not quite as well as I hoped, then just know that you’re in the right place. And I’m going to share with you how to reevaluate and reset your goals. No matter how you’re feeling about your progress so far this year, this process will help you tackle the rest of the year or the month or the week, wherever you’re at with renewed energy, focus, and purpose.
Okay? So how to do a goals reset. Step number one. Reflect on the year so far. So this is not about beating yourself up about what you haven’t achieved or [00:02:00] getting down on yourself for progress that seems quote unquote slow. Now, instead, it’s about getting real about where you’re at and taking a closer look at any challenges that you have been facing.
What I would recommend is to not do this while you’re driving. So find a quiet space, pull out your journal and spend some time reflecting deeply on what you’ve on the year so far, or even just the month before, or even just the last quarter, and ask yourself these questions. What goals have I made progress on in the last quarter?
What goals have slid off my radar? What accomplishments am I most proud of? What have been the major obstacles or distractions that I’ve encountered over the past month or the past quarter? How have my priorities shifted if they have at all? So take some time to reflect. This first step, reflection, is so important because it allows you to see clearly.
So take [00:03:00] some time. You can rewind and go through each of those questions and answer them in your journal. Take the time, sit in a quiet space, grab a cup of tea, and enjoy reflecting because this is a big piece. of doing a goals reset. Okay, now step number two, refine your goals. Now it’s time once we’ve done the reflection to refine or even release any of those goals that need tweaking.
So I want you to ask yourself these questions, which goals are still really important to me? What new goals have emerged? What goals, if any, would give me a sigh of relief to simply cross off my list? Are any of my original goals still realistic, or do they need adjusting? Okay, so take the time, To go through each of those questions.
And it is totally okay. If you wanted something at the start of this year or the start of this month, and it doesn’t seem relevant now, maybe you’ve [00:04:00] had like a major life event or encountered new opportunities or simply developed a different perspective, life changes, my friend, and so can your goals. So just because you set something at the start of the year or the start of this quarter or the start of this week, it doesn’t mean you have to hold onto it just because you set it.
Okay. Okay. Now, once you are clear on where you want to focus your energy for the next month or the next quarter, it’s time to ground your goals in reality. Okay? So we move on to step three, break down your goals. So step two, we have just refined our goals and now we’re going to step three, break down your goals.
So success is built on daily actions, not just grand visions. So to effectively move toward your goals, it’s so crucial to translate them into actionable steps. So start by breaking down each goal into monthly, weekly, and daily tasks. What specific actions can you [00:05:00] take this quarter, or this month, or this week?
Or today, or this hour, okay? And then every day, make a conscious effort to ensure that your chosen activities contribute directly to your larger objectives, your larger goals, your vision, yes? This alignment will help you make consistent progress toward your goals, even those big, scary, pie in the sky ones, okay?
So we’ve got to break our goals down, break them down. This is how we achieve them. So that is step three, okay? Step four, regular check ins. So make a habit for yourself to check in with your goals regularly. Like I said, you can do this at the start of each week, you can do this at the start of every quarter, every year, every month, whatever works for you.
This could be a quick weekly review or a more detailed monthly assessment, like what’s [00:06:00] working, what’s not working, what needs tweaking. Now, these check ins are absolutely crucial for maintaining momentum and making adjustments on the fly. Okay. So regularly check in, put it in your calendar. So I have it in my calendar for every quarter it comes up.
And at the start of each month, I recheck in, I go, where are we going? What are we doing? What do we need to tweak? And this helps me achieve my goals very quickly. So do regular check ins. That is step four. Step five, celebrate your wins, even the small ones. Don’t wait until you hit your final destination to pat yourself on the back, my friend.
Every small achievement is a building block towards your bigger vision, and it deserves to be acknowledged. So whether it’s sticking to your planned tasks for the week or finally starting on that project that you’ve been postponing, celebrate your progress, it’s beautiful. Not only will this boost your morale and keep you motivated, it also makes life a whole [00:07:00] lot more fun.
So celebrate, celebrate, celebrate everything. Life is so precious. Celebrate everything in your life. And don’t forget, specifically, to celebrate these wins, even the small ones, okay? Let’s just do a little recap, okay? How to do a goals reset. Step number one, reflect on the year or the quarter that has been.
Step two, refine your goals and go back and re listen to the questions that I just shared with you and answer those questions. Step three, break down your goals to the quarter, to the month, to the week, to today, to this hour. Okay? Step four, regular check ins. Make sure you do regular check ins to make sure that your ship is pointing in the direction that you want to go.
Okay? And step five, celebrate your wins, even the small ones. And just remember that [00:08:00] doing a reset isn’t just about adjusting your goals. It’s about renewing your commitment to yourself and your vision for the future. Remember no matter how much you have or haven’t achieved in the past three months or the past month or the past week, there is still so much that you can do today and you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
So please do not beat yourself up. Please be kind to yourself. Please be loving to yourself.
