Hey beautiful. Welcome back to the show. Let’s get started. I’m so excited about this episode because I [00:01:00] absolutely love rituals and routine. If you know me well, you will know that I am a creature of rituals and routines. And today I’m going to share with you the surprising power of incorporating rituals into your business and your workday.

Now a lot of people ask me how I get so much done. Truly it is these little rituals. Rituals. And this is one of my biggest business hacks. Okay. And I’m not talking about elaborate ceremonies or hour long processes. I’m talking about small, meaningful practices that turn your everyday workday into something more extraordinary.

Now for me, incorporating these small rituals into my workday has completely transformed the way that I feel in my business. Which has a ripple effect on the ideas I come up with, the people I interact with, the projects I create, and the way that I coach inside SheLaunch and the words that I write.

Basically everything [00:02:00] that I touch. Now you may want to write these down, but one of the most important rituals is Taking three deep breaths before I show up and share my energy with anyone. Now, this doesn’t matter whether it is a coaching call or a free workshop or challenge that I’m hosting or a Zoom meeting with my team.

I always make the time for this little ritual and it instantly makes me feel more present and focused. And it’s so simple. It is so simple. So just three deep breaths. Now, another simple ritual that I’ve done for years is starting a fresh notebook whenever I want to call in new energy into my business or break myself out of a rut or brainstorm a new project.

Now these blank pages always fire up my imagination and they kickstart a flood of new ideas. It’s like hitting the reset button that gets me excited and inspired every single time. These two things are so simple, but for me, they are powerful. They set the stage for [00:03:00] inspiration, focus, and even magic. But just to be clear, like rituals aren’t just about being whimsical.

They can also be a powerful tool for peak performance. They anchor you. They bring a sense of purpose and mindfulness and believe it or not, they can boost your creativity and productivity. Now, you might be thinking, Oh, this sounds great, Melissa, but like, how do I start? It’s so simple. Find those moments in your workday that feel a bit lifeless and that are crying out for an injection of inspiration.

Then I want you to introduce a small ritual to those moments. So say, for example, it’s admin y stuff that you’re doing or emails that you’re like, Oh, just needs a little bit of life. Okay. And now it could be as simple as taking a few deep breaths before you open your inbox or playing a specific song while planning out your week or creating a nourishing ritual for when you finish a project.

Whether that’s like having a celebration, raw cacao, something [00:04:00] delicious. You know what I mean? Or like a full blown massage or day spa, whatever works for you. Now, these small acts bring a sense of ceremony into your daily life and turn just another day with your emails or admin into something meaningful and beautiful.

Something that I have started doing as well that I absolutely love is bringing my biohacking rituals into my work. So if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that sometimes I’m working with my hydrogen breathing machine on. I also have a shoulder brace, which helps me stand up and not have my shoulders hunched forward and I have just got a walking pad.

So for my standup desk, I often will do those admin y, email y type of tasks walking. I do all of my meetings now walking, which is so good. So these little things. Whether it’s a little biohacking ritual, having an essential oil [00:05:00] diffuser, wearing a red light mask whilst you’re working, whatever it is, there are so many little things that you can do, and you can add more wellness and more purpose into your work day.

So here’s my challenge for you. I want you to think about one small ritual that you can start incorporating into your work day. And I just want you to give it a go for a week and see how it changes things for you. You may just be pleasantly surprised, okay? And this doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy all of these biohacking things, like diffusing some oils, playing some music, or simply taking some deep breaths.

These are all going to be really powerful. And just remember that there’s no one size fits all when it comes to rituals. It’s about finding what resonates with you. And I’ve got some more little ideas that you can take, write these down. If you want to, now you could do like a morning kickoff ritual. So imagine starting your work day, not by diving into your emails or scrolling, but by taking five minutes to set [00:06:00] your intentions, like it could be as simple as closing your eyes and reflecting on what you want to achieve that day.

Like this tiny act shifts your mindset from reactive to proactive. You’re no longer just going through the motions, you are in control. So in Time Magic, we get everybody to write down their Time Magic tasks. Now these are the top three most important tasks for that day. These are the needle movers, the revenue drivers.

And so you could visualize yourself achieving those things. and high fiving yourself at the end of achieving those things. Something like that. So that’s like a nice little intention setting morning ritual that you can do. You can also add different essential oils throughout your day, you know, really uplifting oils in the morning to get you going and maybe more grounding oils toward the end of the day to really help calm your nervous system.

And that brings me to my next idea, an evening shutdown ritual. So if you [00:07:00] struggle to switch off at the end of your workday, you could consider implementing like a shutdown ritual. So just as you shut down your computer when you finish with it, try closing out your workday with a specific set of actions that signal to your brain that it’s time to transition from work to motherhood or work to life or whatever it is.

And it might involve reviewing the day’s achievements or setting the next day’s priorities. I love doing that. Like I love looking at my calendar for the next day and just making sure my day is going to flow. If I need to move anything, if I need to change something. I also then set my time magic tasks, or you can simply tidy up your desk or your workspace and close your office door.

So I like to do all of those things. I love to make sure my desk is beautiful. I love to make sure that everything is closed off. I try and close all of the tabs. I try and shut down everything and close all of the loops that are left [00:08:00] open. And you could also have like a little shutdown ritual song, you know, where you just have like a little shake or a dance, you know, for a minute or so, just something that signals to your brain and your body that it is time to transition.

Yeah. Pattern break. Tony Robbins calls them pattern breaks. We want to have a pattern break so that you can signal to your brain that it’s time to transition and then you can schedule a dream big hour every single week. So this is your time to think big about your life and your business. This is where you let your imagination soar and put all of your wildest dreams for the future right there on paper.

Now, when you allow yourself to dream like this regularly, it’s amazing how it stretches your sense of what’s truly possible. Plus it keeps you fired up and inspired as you work on your day to day stuff. So definitely like set some time each week where you are checking in with your goals or you’re dreaming big.

This is absolutely essential. And then I [00:09:00] also like to do a little weekly reflection ritual. So every Friday, instead of like rushing off. At the end of my workday, I like to take a few minutes and review my week and like celebrate the wins, like however small or big they are and acknowledge the challenges.

Okay. What worked? What didn’t work? What do I want to call in more of next week? And I just sit in that energy and take a moment to reflect on the week that has been. The stretching things, the amazing things, and just have a little check in. I think that’s great. And if you have a team, definitely do that with them.

And then I also like a quarterly goal setting ritual. And this is in my calendar to do, and I absolutely love this. It’s one of my favorite business rituals.
