March Focus Topic – Behind The Scenes Of The 2017 MA Site Launch

To kick off this epic new Mastermind what better way to start than taking you behind the scenes to discover how we did it? I am also going to introduce you to my secret weapon… my husband. April Focus Topic – The Customer Journey

One thing my team and I have worked hard on over the years is to bring my website to life and give it personality. Your website should feel like a living breathing being, not just some clever design and catchy phrases. But what happens once someone does arrive on your site? What do you want them to discover first? Where do you want to take them? How are you going to add value? One of my favourite sayings that governs everything we do at MA is from Tony Robbins…

“Add more value than anyone else is doing, and in less time.”

That my friend is the online holy grail. But in order to do this, you have to know what your customer wants and where to find it. Enter ‘The Customer Journey’. And to be clear, when I say customer I mean someone who either pays with their money, email or spending time on your site. Treat every visitor, every email optin and every purchase like gold!

This month we are going to pave the way for you to create your own crystal clear customer journey, and to help guide you I have brought in the incredible team behind the launch of the Mastering Your Mean Girl Program, Alfredo and Angela from H5. This is why this month we are going to debunk Facebook myths, understand how Facebook really works, look at your analytics and the trends so that you make the most of this epic platform. Which is why I am super excited for this month’s VIP guests… Lizzie Henebery, marketing, and Facebook guru. Lizzie and I have worked together and she is a gun when it comes to Facebook, analytics, and marketing. Authentic copy is imperative for your business, but sometimes it can feel hard to articulate exactly what you want to communicate from your heart. This is where Jess Larsen, aka the Wordsmith, comes in! Jess is an epic copywriter and creative consultant who I have worked with for many years, and she is a genius at helping people tell their stories so they can take the online worlds by storm. If there is one foundational area of your business that you want to nail, then this is it!

  • Great questions to ask yourself when you’re trying to infuse story into your copy: How did this product/service come into being? What did I have to overcome to create it? Who has it helped? How has it helped them?
  • If you’re interested in finding out more about the impact of story on how much you can charge for you product/service, check out the Significant Objects Project (Seriously interesting stuff — when objects just had a normal product description, they sold for a couple of bucks… with a story, they sold for a couple of HUNDRED bucks!)
  • Remember: there’s no such thing as a “natural” writer, and there’s no one “right” way to write copy.
  • A great book on getting better at important skills (including writing) is “Peak: The New Science of Expertise“, by A. Anders Ericsson. (This is a great read — persist through the sciencey bits, it’s worth it!)
  • The two About Pages I analysed were: Felicity Evans and Isabel Damman [Special thanks to the lovely lady who posted those links for me in the chat bar!] Both ladies have done wonderful jobs with their About Pages, and are clearly wordsmiths at heart! Ladies, love your work, and thanks for being brave enough to have me chat about them in the group
  • I’ve bundled together three resources to help your copywriting, if you want some extra creative juice (they’re called ‘How to get killer testimonials’, ‘Stop Wishing, Start Working’, and ‘Love Your Launch’.) They’re all free (obvs) and I’ve put them all here for you.
  • For those of you who are interested in improving your copywriting skills and writing story-based sales copy, next week I’m launching a brand new program — Write Your Own Sales Page — which will show you how to breed prize-winning chickens. Just kidding, it will show you how to write your own sales page… even if you’re not a “natural” writer, and you hate selling, and you’re worried you don’t have any stories to tell. It goes into more depth on all the story stuff we covered tonight, so if you found that interesting, I’d love to see you inside.
  • Your mission (should you choose to accept it!) aka your three homework tasks, to instantly improve your copy, are:
    • Make sure your copy is as customer-focused as possible. (Make it about them, not about you!) A good measure is to make sure you’re using the word “you” more than you’re saying “we” / “I” / “us” etc.
    • Check your verbs! Go through your copy, and make sure the verbs you’re using are as powerful as possible. (Remember the car accident study? People estimated those cars were going 30% faster when they heard the word “collided” rather than “contacted”.) So….. are you a life coach who helps people “attain” their dreams or “smash” their dreams? Are you a business coach who helps people “increase” their income or “sky-rocket” their income? Are you a personal trainer who helps people “tone” their abs or “flatten” their abs? Get conscious of your verbs and the subtle messages they’re sending.
    • Customise every customer touch-point! (My example during the workshop you can find here). Is your opt-in form personalised? What about the auto-email from your invoicing software? What about your receipts? What about your email footer? Look at each touch-point as an opportunity to strengthen your relationship with your customers and show them what you stand for.

August Focus Topic – The Business Of The 21st Century

The way we do business is shifting and it’s hard to ignore. I don’t know if you can feel it but we are moving out of a ‘me’ cycle and into a ‘we’ circle, where cooperation, working together, collaborating and building tribes are not only necessary they are crucial for your success. No more sitting behind your computer alone. No more thinking you have to do it all on your own. No more spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on marketing with a lame ROI. There IS a different way to do business with heart. And I feel like I would be doing you a real disservice if I didn’t share this with you.

Imagine getting an epic new pair of yoga tights that suck you in all the rights places (you know the ones). You love them so much you tell your bestie and she goes out and buys the same pair and you get a commission on her sale. Then she falls in love with them too and goes and tells her mum and her mum runs out and gets a pair and you get a commission on her pair too. Then her mum tells her friend and she jumps in the car and goes and buys a pair and you get a commission on that too. Then you share it on social media, and 30 people buy those tights, and then those 30 people also share on social media and 100 people buy them… that is the power of network marketing. It could just as easily be called ‘word of mouth’ marketing or ‘collaborative business’. Whatever you want to label it, this is the business in the 21st century. Could this be your Path To Freedom?
