Melissa is a shining light and the ‘Real Deal’ when it comes to her enthusiasm for wellness and helping others find their way. Spending time with her just makes you want to be a better human and her guided meditation has helped me find stillness on the busiest of days.
It's all about YOU, beautiful! You are why I do what I do. I love being surrounded by truly phenomenal women. Here’s what they have to say about my work and how it has impacted them...
Melissa is one of those honest, down to earth, larger than life, totally gorgeous human beings that absolutely walks her talk. I love the rawness of her own story and I love what she now shares with others in an authentic compassionate way.
I am truly honoured to be part of this beautiful Soul Sister Success Stories series that pays tribute to the amazing women who are choosing to each day face their fears and master their Mean Girl! A few years ago I didn’t really even know I had a Mean Girl (I know, I know … I’ve studied psychology for goodness sake), I just thought she ran the show and boy was she loud! I don’t have a fancy story and haven’t hit rock bottom but I can say that things in my life now flow more effortlessly since learning the skills to master my Mean Girl (which is and will continue to be a daily practice). Now according to my hubby I am some kind of cult follower but I like to refer to Melissa as my guru! I have done all of her programs, read her book, I listen to all of her meditations regularly and keep abreast of her blogs and what not. Don’t get me wrong, my Mean Girl isn’t ‘mastered’, she still sneaks in, but I am so much more aware of her and can now kindly acknowledge her input but close the door on her with a lot more ease.
For me, attending the Goddess Groups was probably where my journey really started. I learned all about self love, forgiveness, the importance of morning rituals, why not to dim your own light, how to cultivate healthy relationships and the difference between the masculine and feminine energy (woo woo right?!). During these beautiful sessions I learned from Melissa and my fellow goddesses that they too had these inner thoughts that were loud, negative and a total downer that were stopping each of us from stepping into our true selves (you know, the ones you think absolutely no one else has!). From here things just started to shift for me. I started to believe in myself, I chose love instead of fear and started saying no and the next thing I knew things were falling in place. There is nothing wrong with believing in yourself when you have worked your butt off, or feeling your happiest and shouting it from the roof tops but we live in a society that likes to knock people down and keep ‘em down.
Like Melissa, I am an A type who only has one pace – a million miles an hour (ask my boss!), but eventually, every couple of months I would come crashing down. I would be so empty and drained from all the people pleasing, long hours and going out of my way to do things for others that it was to the detriment of my own health. I learned to stop, take a breath and fill myself up. The simple shift of a little daily self love has made a huge difference to my health and happiness, I no longer fall in a heap and things now move more effortlessly.
The second biggest lesson for me was to drop expectations. I, like many people, had big (huge even) expectations of myself and others, which got me nowhere but into disappointment city. Don’t you love arguing with your partner over stupid stuff like the dishes because you were not clear in what you actually wanted? Silly huh! Since learning to move beyond this my relationship with disappointment city has significantly reduced and my relationships have begun to flourish – both at home and in the workplace. Earlier this year I became a first time mum, if my Mean Girl was going to come out this was surely going to be it I thought. I was prepared, I had read everything – the first 12 weeks were going to be hell (no sleep, pj’s until noon, rare showers and cold cups of tea right?) … So you can imagine my surprise when I showered everyday and managed hot cups of tea but I like to think this is because I just made it happen. I had no expectations of what life would be like and wanted the journey to be ours and not compare it to anyone else’s. Sure my Mean Girl has made some brief appearances but because I have dropped the expectations and am choosing love in every situation it is very hard for her to sneak on in as often and when she does I listen then just say ‘cya later’. I enjoy my hot cup of tea and 5 minutes of peace as I am hopping into bed and know if that’s all I can manage that day it’s my little self love ritual that will keep me going the next day. I pay gratitude for people like Melissa who continue to pay it forward to the future goddesses.
I met Melissa almost three years ago when I looked up at my book launch and saw a beautiful face smiling down at me. We shared an instant connection and as we got to know each other we discovered that we had so much in common from our health coaching practices to our natural and integrative food philosophies. Getting to know Melissa even more it was then I came to realize how passionate and driven she is. It really cemented my appreciation of her and her knowledge in helping others to nourish themselves inside and out. Melissa’s book is truly magical and an inspirational guide to others. Melissa makes it really simple for people to reach their full potential and delivers her message in a practical way, and one that is easy to adopt. Melissa has a warm engaging personality and magnetism that lights up a room. She is open and supportive towards her tribe and her books and programs have turned around many lives.
About a year and a half ago, my mum came to me and said ‘Have you heard of Melissa Ambrosini? I think you will really like her.’
So as you do, I googled Melissa, and the first thing I watched was her wedding video with her incredible hubby Nick. All I remember thinking was, that is my DREAM wedding!
It was from there, I went on to her website and started reading her blogs.
Well, something shook me to my core. Everything Melissa wrote about and spoke about in her blogs was exactly what I had been struggling with my whole teenage and early adult years. The self-hate, body image, unhealthy relationship with food etc. It was then I also learnt about the ‘Mean Girl’. Not only did I learn about her, I also realised my Mean Girl was turned up full blast, 24/7. Yikes!
I then remember telling one of my girlfriends about Melissa, and saying to her, ‘you have to come with me to Utopia Women’s Wellness event, Melissa is speaking and I think you are going to love her!’ So she came with me.
Melissa was the first speaker we listened to, and we both sat there, in tears. Every word Melissa spoke hit home for me (and my friend). Melissa had moved something within both of us, and it was at that moment I decided it was time for me do something about my nasty Mean Girl! This is not how life was supposed to feel. And if Melissa could do it, so could I.
I was already about two years into building and running my own coaching business, and Melissa gave me the push I needed mentally to step it up even more, and to keep breaking through all of my limiting beliefs. And I was doing it at a rapid pace! Through Melissa’s work, she has helped me come to peace with so many things in my life, and I have felt myself grow more than I ever had before at that point in my life.
Then one of the most exciting things EVER happened. Marie Forleo had also been an inspiration of mine for a very long time when it came to building my business, and scrolling through Facebook one day, Melissa announced that anyone wanting to do the next round of B-School, could do it with her! I literally didn’t even think twice about it. I didn’t have to. I knew it was exactly where I needed and wanted to be. So I enrolled to do B-School with Melissa.
I then finally had the chance to meet Melissa in person, when she ran her live B-School Bootcamp weekend in May 2015. I can honestly say spending this weekend with Melissa changed so many things for me within my business and personal life. Melissa’s authentic and heart-centered ways of teaching and running a business made it so easy to learn from her. She helped me to understand what it actually means to run a business from the heart, and the teachings I learnt from Melissa through the bootcamp have been invaluable! Since her bootcamp, my business has grown dramatically, and still continues to grow. I have coached hundreds of women around the world, and I am now working for myself, full time. WINNING! No more bound to a soul sucking job (which is one thing I was still doing when I met Melissa), I have a few different mentors in my life, and I can honestly say there is not a day that goes by where I don’t implement at least one of the invaluable life lessons Melissa has taught me along the way.
Melissa’s meditations are something I also tell ALL of my clients to purchase. They have been so life changing for me.
A year and a half on, not only has Melissa been one of the few key instrumental people who have made an impact on my life for the better, I feel so grateful to be able to call her a friend, soul sister, and someone I know I can turn to whenever I need to.
Melissa means so much to me and I cannot thank her enough.
There are people in this world who enter your life and change it for the better. Melissa Ambrosini did just that. She waltzed into my life, rearranged my internal headspace, furnished it with love and left it a better place.
But let’s rewind to 2015. It was a rough year. I was lost, directionless and utterly clueless about where my life was heading. I knew I was a creative creature, I knew I had a lot of love to give but I didn’t know how to channel it into a sustainable and fulfilling future. Starting a business was at the top of my to-do list but it seemed like an impossible and unattainable dream.
Fast forward to today and I am the proud owner of a thriving online Photography business, working with a team of heart centered legends and connecting with people from all corners of the globe. I can hand-on-heart say that I am living the life of my dreams right now. Getting to this place had a lot to do with rewriting my mindset and finding the courage to believe I was worthy. I could not have done this without Melissa’s wisdom, guidance, unwavering support and love! She fostered my self-belief, nurtured my can-do attitude and strengthened my self-love muscle big time!
It blows my mind how many people will pour their hard earned dollars into personal trainers and gym memberships but completely neglect their mental fitness. Melissa is a coach for the mind, body, spirit and heart who works from the inside out. What use is a fit body with a flimsy mind? I can equate that to a sturdy ship without a captain to navigate the storms to calmer seas.
Over the last year I’ve learned to become the master of my fate and I can trace this tsunami of change back to one deep and meaningful conversation with my girl Melissa back in 2015. And since then, she has continued to plant flowering seeds of courage into my heart just when I needed it most.
Melissa is a goddess amongst mere mortals. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
When I was first asked to be a part of Melissa’s Soul Sister Success Stories series, my first response was oh em gee (of course). This was shortly followed by a long list of negative thoughts – what would you write, you haven’t done anything outstanding, what will other people think – you catch my drift. But if there is one thing I’ve learnt this year, it is that these negative thoughts are coming from my inner Mean Girl and I don’t have to (or want to) listen to her anymore.
Before reading Melissa’s book, my Mean Girl held me back from achieving the things I wanted most in life and I let her. My ah-ha moment wasn’t hitting rock bottom, I have always been a mostly happy person, loving the jobs I’ve done and the people around me. I think the turning point for me was noticing that something was missing and I was curious to find out what that was. Looking back, I was just going through the motions of life on autopilot and I wanted more.
Last year I decided it was time to spread my wings and I set off on an eight month backpacking adventure through Africa, Europe and South East Asia. Stepping outside of my bubble and into the big wide world opened my eyes, giving me a new perspective on life and sending me in the right direction to figuring out what I wanted to do with the rest of mine. I was lucky enough to meet amazing people and experience so many different cultures – each with their own way of life that was completely different to my own. Coming home I realised just how conditioned we are to live one way, work long weeks in jobs we hate to make money to spend on things that most likely will just end up in a landfill. I now know that I want to live a life that fulfills me each and every day, I want to be valued, have purpose, and I want to find ways of contributing to the greater good of people. My travels were life changing and was certainly the beginning of my journey to a new me, but alas! I still found myself back home, with that feeling that something was missing.
I came across Melissa’s book Mastering Your Mean Girl soon after that – my beautiful friend Tash introduced me to her work and we started going to her Goddess Groups together. A combination of these sessions and her book helped me to realise that I was trying to fit the mould. I was holding myself back and trying to live the ‘normal’ life out of fear of what other people would think. Now, I’m determined to make a mould that fits me! People will tell you that in the last 12 months I have become unapologetically me. I’ve found my groove and ultimately drop it low to the beat of my own drum. I was using my resources, or lack thereof, as an excuse, but as Melissa always says in every situation you have two choices – find the love in it or change it.
So, this year, I have been working full time while studying the things I love part time. I have already completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training and am half way into my studies to become a Health Coach with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. With Melissa’s wisdom and support, I have realised that I can achieve anything my heart desires and that my happiness and sense of fulfilment comes from within. Don’t get me wrong, I still get lost from time to time but with the tools Melissa gives us in her book I can quickly find my way back to my journey, and the path I was put on this earth to live, not the one I think I ‘should’ be living.
Melissa’s book challenged my way of thinking, it unleashed a new way of living and gave me the permission I needed to live the life of my dreams without the approval of others. I can now safely say that I am happy in my own skin, proud of what I’m achieving and excited about every day to come
Melissa has come along at exactly the right time. The world needs to hear her message and be inspired by her fearless authenticity. If you want to live your dream life but don’t know where to start… whether it’s finding your life purpose, finding love or finding yourself… there is no one better than Melissa to show you the way.
Fitness & Lifestyle Coach
Back in 2014 I was introduced to Melissa Ambrosini from a friend who was doing B-School with her at the time. I jumped on Melissa’s website and fell in love with her work immediately and signed up to B-School with Melissa on the spot. I’d never done anything like that before, I just knew that I was in the right place at the right time and in the right hands. You know, one of those intuitive decisions that just feels right.
To be honest, I barely did any of the actual B-School work. I followed all of Melissa’s additional work and attended the workshop she put on for us as a bonus instead. That workshop alone felt like I’d gotten my value’s worth. The content I received working with Melissa in person was far beyond what I was capable of learning behind a computer screen.
After the workshop intensive, I went home and decided to enrol in a Life Coaching course to grow my credentials and my business at the same time.
Fast forward 12 months and I was lucky enough be invited back for Melissa’s “Business Bootcamp” as part of her 2015 B-School bonus. I was blown away by all the mesmerising, inspiring women that were also at this workshop. However, you really wouldn’t expect anything less for the crowd Melissa attracts. Everyone is always beautiful and welcoming.
Since that 2015 workshop, I connected with another two amazing ladies with whom we formed a ‘Business Mastermind’ together, to set goals, share with each other and hold each other accountable. All thanks to Melissa connecting us together. These girls became my ‘rocks’ and support group to achieve the wildest dreams my imagination was creating.
It was never about just the event. It was always there ripple effect it created that was long-lasting.
My business has tripled (if not more) since the 2015 Workshop with Melissa, and my biggest moment was when Melissa and Nick had me in their hot-seat at Melissa’s Business Bootcamp. The questions truthfully hit my heart deep about what I really wanted for my business and myself. It stopped me fluffing around the questions and get to the nitty gritty of what I truly wanted to achieve.
I am so incredibly grateful for taking the leap to work with Melissa and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better mentor in both life and business. She has taught me all the in’s and out’s to growing an authentic business.
Wellness Coach and Writer
My background is in writing and journalism. I was always a high achiever in school, went on to study at University, scored an incredible internship with CLEO Magazine and then…nothing. I just couldn’t seem to ‘crack’ the industry no matter how hard I tried, so when a role at a marketing consultancy became available, I took it, even though I knew nothing about marketing or business, and ended up working my way up the business over 5 years.
While I really loved my team, and was great at my job, I started to feel a little niggle that this wasn’t my truth. I didn’t wake up feeling inspired or excited to go to work – I was just rolling through day in day out, and it started to really affect my health.
I had always struggled with anxiety and being a Type A personality, I was constantly juggling long work hours, early gym mornings, social catch ups whenever I could squeeze them in, and making time for my partner and family. I had zero time for myself. This ‘people pleasing’ mentality seriously took its toll, and about 18 months ago I was struck with a serious case of adrenal fatigue, as well as severe panic attacks, depression, leaky gut, parasites and psoriasis. I was constantly sick, crying all the time, could barely get off the couch on the weekends and just felt so lost. Nothing brought me joy anymore, and while on paper I was living an ‘ideal’ life, my lack of purpose and direction affected my health both physically and mentally.
I took myself off to Melissa’s first Goddess Group as, you could say intuitively, I knew it was just what I needed. I am SO grateful for that moment. The Goddess Groups have taught me so much about self love, following your passions and purpose, how to maintain uplifting relationships, putting yourself first – gosh I could go on and on. It was because of these sessions, and guidance from Melissa, that I realised what I wanted to do – help others through a coaching business of my own. It sounds so cliched writing it but life has just flowed since then. In 8 months my business has grown to more than 30 clients, I have been published in incredible publications I love like Sporteluxe and Mamamia, and I have even just recently sold out my first workshop. Not only that, but I have just returned home from 2 months travelling around Europe, I am now engaged to the love of my life, and we are looking at purchasing our dream home in the next 12 months. I have made a complete 180 rotation from where I was this time last year and it feels incredible.
My biggest lesson from Melissa is definitely about self love – putting myself first, and filling my cup, before I give to others. I make time to rest every single day and am bursting with more health, happiness and love than I ever have. Being able to help others on their journey is an incredible way to give back and teach what I have learned, plus I wake up with a genuine smile on my face every day. It is an amazing feeling.
